I did smile Deb and it brought back memories of retrieving snails from my son's little fingers many years ago. My granddaughter and her hubby saw their first snail recently'after moving out of the, no snails tropics, to the colder south. This was a fun read and great questions.
Cheers

Thanks, Valda. I can't imagine being grown and married and having never seen a snail! I bet that was so cool for them. Those of us who grew up in a place with the little critters .🐌 have lost the wonder but your granddaughter... She'll remember it forever!
Thank you again!
Blessings,
Deb

This is a cute poem written from a child's perspective and in my opinion it would make a good section in a children's story book. The artwork is adorable as well and goes good with the poem. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Marilyn! The encouragementis so appreciated. It is going to go into that poetry book I'm working on. 😊 My 16-month-old granddaughter saw snails for the first time last week and the pics I took are full of her wonder. Unfortunately, my daughter doesn't allow Char's photo online, so I did an AI image, instead.
Many blessings!

I had a slug just like that, as a pet, when I lived in Florida as a child for a few years. It melted ion the sidewalk. :( This poem is so adorable and seems authentic to how a young girl envisions her friendly snail. Excellent imagery and image.
Best wishes,
Alexandra

Thank you, Alexandra, for the kind words. I've had a pet squirrel but never known anyone with a pet snail! Sorry about the whole sidewalk incident. It sounds like something that would happen here in Tx. Both hot spots, for sure!
Blessings,
Deb

It was over 45 years ago, Deb. I'm almost over it. ;) Thank you and you're welcome! Alex

I guess there is always a little kid left in all of us, and to think about the little ones seeing a slimy snail for the first time it takes me back. Thanks for sharing another fine poem.

Thanks, Ric. It's always easier to remember those moments when I'm watching my granddaughter (18-months-old) see things for the first time. 👶 🐌
And it helps that I still think like a kid... Wait! Did I say that aloud?
Blessings, my friend!

We have many snails here in Texas. Every time my youngest grandchildren come; they are always fascinated by the snails. I enjoy watching them study the snails. Thank you for sharing this fun and adorable poem.

I guss I didn't realize you are in Texas, too. I'm in the center of the state, right on the edge of what 'they' call West Texas. I've always wondered... How can we be West Texas if we're literally in the geographic center of the state? lol. That's why I'm in Austin so often - our youngest girl relocated there after she got her master's degree, in chase of a guy, of all things! But they're happily married now with an 18 month old, so I suppose all's well. And I think I love this guy almost as much as I love our sons. He's great! I'm glad she made a foolish choice and followed him. lol
Anyhow, I hope you share this silliness with your grands! 🐌 I'm putting together a book of kid's poems and think this might go in.
Blessings and hugs, Texas friend!

You really got into the childlike curiosity and sweet sense of wonder for this poem. I don't appreciate snails because of their attack on my plants! But other than that, they are kinda cute!

🌱 🐌... Not the best combo, for sure! But they are cute and fun to watch. Or, rather, the kids, as they watch the snails, are cute and fun to watch. lol
Blessings, Helen, and thank you.
