Verna, I really like what you've got going on here, and it gets a sixth star. I know you have been a frequent reviewer of mine. So you know, I'm not a poet--at least not much one like you. Please take the following comment with a grain of salt.

My input is that I would like it to be a bit longer. You got a good story and great flow. I just want a little more. It doesn't need to be Evangeline long, but maybe a few more verses. Food for thought. Well done. Terry.

Thank you, Terry, for a great review. You're with my college English teacher who used to say when she'd read my "blue book" (Probably too long ago for you to know about), Miss Cole, you need to expand. So, if "Brevity is the soul of wit," I must be a wit!

LOL, I remember those blue books.

This poem, Renaldo's Regret, presented with eight ABCB-rhymed quaterns, tells either the power of the pen over the sword, or why it is that Percival was found beaten up and stuffed in the dumpster.

Good complementary picture art choice.
Good reading flow and abcb rhyme scheme to your quatrains.
Nice poem, but we all know that in real life, the sword is way mightier than the pen, and that chicks would choose a man of bron over brains any day. :-)

Terrific imagery throughout. Strong meter and great rhyming bring the story to life. Thanks for sharing this one. Nancy

A lovely ballad-style poem sharing a story with a delightful rhyme and rhythm. I like that it promotes the use of the pen rather than the sword, to win someone's affections. Very well written!

A wonderful story skilfully captured in your lyrical verse! I like the way your poem is expressed in language of the time, referring to "her other swains" "Renaldo was an errant knight." He certainly lost out there to Percival - "The pen is mightier than the sword" That's for sure! Well done, Verna! Take care Debbie

Thank you, Debbie, for your wonderful review. Others have been suggesting that Percival one for his physical might - so I guess that's a poem for another day, or for someone who doesn't value so greatly the "pen"!

Thank you, Patricia, for your excellent review, and your sweet week-end wishes, as well as blessings for my writing. I did put my latest book price very low on Amazon and put it on Kindle Unlimited, so I could share it more. (JOY ALONG MY WAY). I hope you have a blessed weekend, and your writing flourishes.

And again the pen proves mightier than the sword! I loved how you put this in those ancient days and had a poet win over a mighty knight who was a bit too full of himself. A charming ballad poem!

The pen is always mightier than the sword, especially if it's used to sign a Peace Agreement. You wrote a vivid poetic story with much descriptive imagery and a good message. I enjoyed reviewing this.

Best wishes

Alex
