This is bummer that the patent could have been applied for so quickly. Is it possible the Warren wasn't the one who sold it to the company? He trusts Abby but she enough about it she could have developed it further.

No, he sold it to them, but they are experienced in writing patent applications, as they have developed many of their own over the years. I'm sure Warren stressed the importance of getting it in quickly. The shady character he sold it to at Fraleigh Medical probably knew it was stolen and that the true owner would likely seek a patent soon.

So, Warren has gotten away with the money and sold something useless to Fraleigh Medical and someone at that company is probably in a lot of trouble since the boss knew nothing about it. Alan's relationship with Tommy continues to get better and is making him miss teaching. Well written and very good at making me wait impatiently for the next section.

Thanks, Carol. That's music to the ears. Even though Warren got away with it, I'm not quite done with him yet.

Another great chapter, Jim. But it's too bad that another company has already applied for the patent. Now I'm looking forward to seeing if they can do something about it.
I liked the last scene when they play ball. Ulla:)))

Thanks, Ulla. This could be headed for a lawsuit, but maybe it won't come to that if reasonable men sit down to a reasonable discussion together.

It seems that scoundrel Warren was somehow able to sell Alan's invention to someone who was able to sell it to a medical company!
It's good that Alan could de-stress with Tommy and even look ahead to coaching baseball. The normalcy of a family has really helped him plus, Archie is used for comic relief. Enjoyed this chapter!

I think you nailed it with your analysis here, Helen. At the beginning of the story, he had no one except his friend Bobby perhaps to share his frustrations with about his situation. Now he has people who love him to help him through this. It makes a world of difference.

Another good chapter Jim as Alan still battles with the stress of dealing with the theft and all its complications. Fortunately his family is there with him to help him through, one joke at a time. Moving along well.
Cheers

Thanks, Valda. You're right; his family has become very important to him in this situation to keep him grounded and not despair.

So, there are complications with the patient. I expected as much, it's part of the story, but I do believe somehow it will all be worked out. Not all stepfathers are able to work this out as easily, even in the best situations.

Good instincts about the patent part. That will work itself out. But you know I won't leave it at that. Expect some excitement before the end.

A packed chapter with many things in play-
The phone call to Fraleigh
Potential criminal charges or investigation still on topic
The moving forward of family life with the three, Alan, Ginnie and Tommy.
Getting interesting and looking forward to the next chapter.
Good post,
John

What an unpleasant set of complications about the theft. It just doesn't seem right. So I am hoping they come through and can get the patent and that Warren will get what he deserves. Well written, as always! Wendy

Thanks, Wendy. We'll see soon enough what stance that company will take with this and how honorable they might be. But there's still the matter with Warren we have to address before the end. Stay tuned!

After five days Carmody hasn't actually applied for the provisional patent yet, knowing that it had been stolen? But Fraleigh Medical could do it in a day?
Well written, error-free, of course.

Well, that's a good point. Perhaps I should cut that down to perhaps 3 days, but this is Alan's first patent application and he probably misses a few things the lawyer catches for him, and the lawyer is in Fort Wayne, so he has to overnight it to him, plus Fraleigh Medical is experienced in writing patents, but it's a good point.

Such an exciting episode, I don't whether you'll catch up with Warron again, I wonderful if he'll actually be prosecuted, not that Alan would prosecute, gambling or any addiction can make crooks out of what might be good people, well done, blessings Roy

Thanks, Roy. At this point, just getting the product off the ground may seem like it's enough for Alan, but we'll see about Warren. We're not done with him yet.
