I was tired after just reading about your day dedicated to your girls (as are your hearts). I'm amazed at what a trooper Pa is. I doubt those girls will know how lucky they are to have such wonderful grandparents till years pass!

Thanks so much for a lovely review! Yesterday we had six of the seven grandchildren here, and it was a fun (if a little noisy) day. For the most part Pa hides in the study if he can! Lol.

Busy, busy, non-stop activities! You're going to need a real walking-stick at this rate! But you all clearly had fun (well, maybe a little less so for Pa:)) David Walliams has hit the jackpot with his children's books hasn't he? Now there's a new genre for you, Wendy? Thanks for sharing your enjoyable read! Take care Debbie

Thanks so much Debbie. A lovely review. Yes David Williams has certainly hit the jackpot! I have just managed to survive today with six here, two boys aged 16 and 14 and their sister aged 9, along with the other three. Fortunately the boys are just wonderful with the girls. My feet are now on ice packs!

Wow, Miss Eight is quite the soccer (thanks for using American English) player! And what wonderful memories you created with Miss Eight and Miss Five. These will last longer than any gifts that you need to unwrap!

Thank you Helen. A lovely review, and much appreciated. We call it soccer over here too. It must be just Europe that uses "football". Yes, memories like these are to be cherished.

What fun reading of your grand birthday adventure! I enjoyed every word, and sometimes the cost for "priceless" isn't a sum you can calculate...

My gosh, they are adorable!

YOU are awesome!

Thank you Karenina. Exactly right. These experiences will hopefully be memories to cherish for a lifetime, for all of us. No monetary value can be allocated. Love your review.
Tomorrow, I?ll have six grandchildren here. The three girls and their older cousins. The two eldest (boys of 16 and 14) are wonderful with the little girls, so I?m hoping for an easy day!

If you could bottle up your energy and sell it, you'd be a millionaire!

Here, at present I have my painful feet on ice packs, and a heat pack on my shoulders and neck. I somehow don?t think I?ll be a millionaire anytime soon. Lol. However, I DID sort out and tidy my wardrobe and chest of drawers this morning. I need to tidy and rearrange the toy cupboard too ? one day. Lol.

It?s high time I declutterred. Wouldn?t want to die with enough pairs of socks for a centipede in my socks drawer! And dresses from when I was very skinny, doing 20 hours of fitness per week training along with a full time job. Training for a 200 km bike ride fundraiser for cancer research. When I was 61, and hadn?t ridden a bike for 45 years. Looking back, j think I have always been a little crazy.

Wow! You day was so busy it made me tired. It sounds like the girls had a really great time. Those are some interesting, colorful and creative head bands they are wearing. I must say, Wendy, their smiles are just like yours. I enjoyed this story. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Wendy,
looking at the picture of those gals I can see that they had a grand time with you and Pa. I don't know how you manage to do it. I would have been worn out long before the day had ended. You set the bar high gal, and I fear I could never hope to attain it. Your family is certainly blessed by all the love you give.
Have a blessed day.
Tom

Thank you Tom for this lovely review! Tomorrow I will have six grandchildren here, but it should be an easy day. The two eldest (boys of 16 and 14) are great with the girls, who love them a lot. I?ll just supply food ?.

"Free ice-cream!" Hey, count me in!
"Pa and I were going to a share a galette" Take out the 'a' after to.
Ah, what a wonderfully narrated fun-filled day! The imagery was so good, I was right there in the scene, step for step, with y'all. And those two are the cutest wards ever!
A humorous, cheery tale, which I very much enjoyed!
Oh, and I think you're the bestest nanny ever!!!

I like the walking stick idea as clever and amusing and entertaining for people who might want to be entered in by it. It's also practical for someone who needs to go slow. I would also be careful or are you might end up owning the ice cream business: "The handsome young man welcomed the two girls to seats and said I was very welcome to join them and help the girls. Me? Help? He obviously doesn't know I can't cut a straight line. He sort of ushered me next to Miss Five. No seat.

He explained what to do, and got them started. Next step: cut out .... But wait! Where are the left-handed scissors? Miss Five is left-handed, like her mother. There were none. I did my best to cut out the appropriate parts. Where was Pa? Sitting on a comfortable chair nearby. He smiled and waved.

At last we were finished and the results were impressive. I am not quite sure what they were meant to be, as they didn't seem to relate to the show. Headbands with penguin beaks, googly eyes surrounded by super long eyelashes and curls from pipe cleaner and paper.

Yes, they wore these as we walked back towards the train session - and they were, once again, our walking sticks. We stopped for several minutes in amazement at a magic "golden man" sitting suspended in air and held up only by a walking stick! We couldn't figure it out. We got a photo of the girls standing on either side of him - for the cost of a donation! The man has to make a living, of course!

As you say nothing is free what's the hook here: "free scoop of ice-cream" at the nearby ice-cream parlour. Sounded good. Yet we all know that nothing is really free. We also know that children can't resist getting free ice-cream.
Several minutes later ... I am now signed up to receive information about an expensive hotel chain, necessary for a voucher for a free ice-cream,(and will doubtless receive endless emails), and the girls each have a delicious cone.I must remember to unsubscribe. One is "Chocolate Chip Crackle" and the other is "Cotton Candy". The second cone cost $7.50! I must remember to unsubscribe. Yes or your membership fee may be enough to buy the ice cream company. Sounds like Miss Eight is a force to be reckoned with.
Thank you for taking us through this fun event.

Thank you Liz! What a super review. I am so glad you enjoyed this story about the two girls. Tomorrow they and their sister will be joined by their older cousins - six kids in all. But the two eldest (boys) are wonderful with all the girls. Should be relatively easy.

I enjoyed yet another day out with you and your granddaughters (well, two of them in this case). I don't blame you for not adding up the total cost! Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.
