I remember summer days in my mom's house. You could hear crickets outside but I could never find them. Those little bugs with the glowing butts, I could see but never catch. Last but not least, bats that seem to find me easily. Wouldn't mind seeing them again.

neat poem for a child.
I don't think we have June Bugs but we do get locusts that "sing" constantly, in the summer in Texas, then leave their "shell" attached to plants. They make me shudder. I don't know if you ever have ringing in your ears, but that's what they sound like, multiplied by 10.
I love sleeping with my bedroom window open, too, but we don't have very long we can do that. Summers are too hot.

Thank you so much! My brother collected bugs from wherever we traveled, my mom was always prepared with paper cups, rubber bands, & plastic wrap in her purse. We chased an odd beetle down the street in San Antonio, getting some strange looks; had to go to an ER when a bug bite swelled into a blister on his leg. The doc said "can you describe what bit you?" & he pulled out the jar with the bug in it. Texas had some pretty scary looking bugs if I recall, so I'm used to bugs thanks to my brother. But there's something about June bugs with their sticky little hooked legs & annoying hum that I don't like. LOL!

Your mom sounds like a sport, a prepared one!
Sometimes in the kitchen I see one of those little spiders that has little stalks sticking up with I guess, their eyes on the end. I always try to catch them in a jar and take them outside. They're kinda cute :)

I try to be humane & put them out, but sometimes it's an automatic reaction to swat! LOL!

I'm for swat! the only things I try to put outside are those tiny little spiders with their eyes on the end of stalks. they're kinda cute, in a way.

I save the shield bugs (stinkbugs), box elders, lady bugs, bees. I don't have any cute spiders, so they don't usually stand a chance, & I squash ants, & kill the wasps & hornets (but only if they're in my house-if they're outside, I don't care).

This is a great child's poem! It has nice meter and rhyme.
We have this problem with a number of outdoor creatures, especially a mockingbird that sits outside our window and starts singing around 3am. I solved the problem by buying a white noise machine and we can't hear it now.

Absolutely adorable. as a child at heart i am in fact a happy kid, this brings it out of me. i also love the rhyme scheme it makes my heart giggle. takes me back to summers long ago.

I enjoyed reading this one. the rhyme and meter are well done and the imagery gives a clear picture of the June bugs. I like the humor and frustration in the last lines. So much fun to read about the June bugs in May.

I love the bugs! It is a sure sign that nasty evil villain, Old Man Winter, has gone for a spell.
