Ciao mystery poet, you now have two votes.
I don't know if this is just a made up story or true but it reminded me of my father and his last two years.
I bought my first mobile in 2015 and that's when I started to google the songs my father loved listening to in the 60s and 70s.
I liked several and soon we would sing them together during those happy musical sessions.
Reading your story made me emotional.

It's not you; many of the members are having these issues this week. We have no idea what's going on. The system definitely needs overhauling. (Fat chance of that!!)
But your story: my goodness!! It was FABULOUS!! First, you are SOOO right: I have honestly SEEN Dementia ward patients come to life and remember every last word to songs from their early days. Music is magical that way.
Secondly, the ending. Oy. I so totally NEVER saw that coming.
You're going to be a FORCE I here; I can tell already. Fantastic job, this! Good luck in the contest. I'm betting I'll see this one in the Winner's Circle. xo

This is touching and also humorous as this is a serious and sad condition, but it sounds like this Mum knew more than she let on to others, I enjoyed this post, love Dolly x

This is an excellent flash story for the contest
with a lonely touch of reality in the diminishment of old age
and the sadness of truth revealed inadvertently.
The ending is very well done.
Good luck in the contest.
Best wishes to all.
