Good old Ben surfaces again, indirectly. Slim seems eager to find Ben and his God, and in turn, to learn more about himself and the reason for his survival and the miracle that is his long, apparently ageless life. I'm guessing he'd like to learn what he should do with his life now--what his calling may be--and figures the clue to this is finding Ben, the man who saved him.

Guessed right.
Thank you.

Too bad they didn't have Ancestry and computers or they might have had an easier time tracing him. They are still looking so I'm expecting they will come up with something. The Ben in the cemetery wouldn't be his dad because I don't think they got his body from the cave-in. Since he came back to life they wouldn't had anything to bury?

They had a memorial service and put a stone over an empty grave.
Thank you for your very nice review.

I missed a few, but I'm back. You left enough breadcrumbs for me to catch up, but I don't think you tread old ground too much. I still like Slim, and I'm interested to see where his search goes.

Slim was going to kill Mary's tormenting ex, but Mary killed him saving Slim's life. The law is interested in Slim's mystery.
Thank you for your review.

I guess Slim is a real specimen for study if "things just start working" for a 120 year old man.
Every time my New Jersey friend says "libary" I want to correct her; of course, I never do.
This is turning into a detective story, which I enjoy.
Thanks for the chapter, and have a nice weekend, Wayne. I guess all them tourists headed home:-)

They're gone!
But I guess you know all about those tourists. Here in the Ozarks we wish Texans would just send their money and stay home.
Thank you for your very nice review.

Your story gets more and more interesting. Wonder why there was that reaction at Benjamin's tomb. I'm glad you are maintaining a
Christian slant to this. You could have gone way into the supernatural, like the terrible "Jonah Hex" movie where he took people out of their graves for information.

Hah!
I admit to a credibility issue, but at least it's a bit plausible. (I know, that made no sense!)
Thanks for the fine review.

I understood it! And I'm thankful you wrote it that way.

I'm guessing that we should never believe everything that's in the records, since as the old saying goes "paper will lie there and let you write anything you want on it." LOL. Thanks for sharing another fine chapter. Wish this cowboy wasn't out of bullets.

But that's not when Ben really died. Or perhaps he did die and was raised to live some more? Anyway, it's intriguing as to who this vanity press author might be in relationship to Ben.
I enjoyed how you had Slim yearn to know about God and how Ben's quoting Scripture to God made an impact on him after all those years. I also liked his consideration of the "Okay" word with various etymological stories. It's just an international word now!

Thank you so very much.
Yes, Ben died and was sent back to Earth from heaven. That was when he went to Chicago and met Tony.

Ah, we are there, or almost there. He still has to find Ben's descendants, perhaps Ben Paul's family. They'll have a lot of history and stories passed down through the generations. An interesting and well written chapter, an enjoyable read.

Thank you very much.
I was not sure whether readers would accept this method of continuing Ben's story.
Comment from Carol Hillebrenner
Slim's interest in what became of Ben Persons has turned into an information pursuit for both him and Mary. In Creed they find Ben's grave, but strangely, Slim feels no pull toward it, like maybe it is an empty grave. Which it is. They are going to have to pick up the saga of Ben somewhere other than in the graveyard.

I think it works really well as Ben saved his life so it makes sense to discover what became of him.
