Congratulations on your contest win
Love the way the emotions build to the joyful climax. Very skillfully rendered indeed
This poem recalls the bitter sweet memory of my father saying he'd been here a long time ( he was in his nineties ) and he wanted to go home. Since this conversation was taking place in his nursing home, the staff took it literally. But he meant his heavenly home. I do hope he found his parents and siblings and boyhood friends all
waiting to welcome him.
Thank you for sharing your poetic gift.
Blessings, Julia

Congratulations on your first place win! After reading it, I can understand why. The emotions are felt from the beginning but as we navigate through it leads us to the door of peace and belonging without fear. Great job!

Hi Jenni,
This is a well done poem about how a place can have so much meaning to us. It also reminds us of the haven home is and that memories are as strong as anything when we are near the ones we love.
Congrats on winning the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a great weekend

This is an intriguing poem. It suggests what heaven might be like, where we stop worrying quite so much about mortal terms and expectations, and where it ought to feel more like coming home. I liked reading it. The 'faces from so long ago' is definitely a detail I would agree with. Nice post.

This is very similar in some ways to how I imagine my eternal home. You used beautiful descriptions to convey the imagery as you piece by piece discover it for yourself.
Very nicely done!

Now that's a very different picture of heaven - if that is the surroundings you see. But what's most important is not the external view but being with our loved ones that make is "Heaven." Best wishes in the contest!

This is very well written, and I enjoyed very much listening to it. May you have a wonderful day. I have been trying to do some reviewing today and I have posted one poem about the solar eclipse. I thought I had to contest entry but I had not read the rules right so it's not a contest entry after all but I still am going to leave it exactly as it is. Patricia .

Looking back on real life can sometimes be as much of Heaven as anyone might want, but for others, it might be a Hell worse than we ever could have imagined. LOL. Thanks for sharing. It's always a pleasure to rub elbows and read what you have to say. :-) Ric
