Aren't dogs just wonderful though as companions and they don't generally answer back!!! This is such an endearing tale arising out of the Childhood Photo contest- has my vote.

Hahaha. No, it's much easier to buy a small, older dog. And you can pet them and sleep with them...and nobody feels weird in the morning.

Adorable picture of you and Skippy, and a heartwarming story to go with it. Good luck to you in the contest! xo

Love you story and picture with the love of you life. Hope you find a person as caring as a doggie. Perhaps you could volunteer at your local vets, the people you meet would have the same interests as you.
Very best wishes

That photo is just so incredibly adorable. Both you and the dog look happy! I'm glad you have it to remember how important he was to you.

I have some grammar suggestions for you:

1. Your first sentence is not a sentence. It is a phrase because it has no subject or verb.

2. Verb tense issue for this sentence:

Now so many years later I still ((would be able)) to have the same relationship except for one major problem - The dogs that I encounter now very often ((are)) just too powerful...

(You've mixed tenses here. "I still am able to have..." would make them match.
Also, commas needed: "Now, so many years later, I..."

This is a very touching story that I enjoyed reading. Thanks so much for sharing! Julie. :-)

A wonderful entry for the Childhood photo contest. First of all, the photo is precious. Second of all, NEVER GIVE UP ON DOGS! People, yes, you can give up on some of them. I think it's time to get a smaller dog. One that is calm and doesn't jump up to greet you. There must be a breed like that out there! Dogs are life's greatest treasure and we are enriched with them in our lives. The story was charming. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you - I'm glad you like my story. Unfortunately, since my family has decided to come live with me, I have been over-run with dogs, and I would still get along with them and enjoy their company but my daughter in law who has no rapport with animals still tries to "help.'" I get along fine with even the biggest of the 5 dogs we have here when she's not in sight. That's where my lack in people skills comes in.
