Oh, it's hard to leave that special house where all your family traditions have taken place. And sadly, no matter where you go, nothing will every replace the joys it brings. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, Ric ~
I was so hesitant to move her all those years ago. My family helped settle Austin. It was home my whole life. Then, one day when I was talking about 'home', I realized it was this place. It will never be the same, of course, but I hope to find a new community to love and interact with if/when that day comes.
Thank you for reading and leaving a comment.
Blessings,
Deb

If walls could talk, I'm sure your house would have lovely memories of children and grandchildren to share. I like your description of the house and the various events that have occurred there. Great rhymes and a steady rhythm throughout. Blessings. Carol

I'm enjoying your book. Sorry I'm so far behind. Taking care of my husband is keeping me very busy, but I'm blessed to do so.

That's impressive to live in one house for thirty years! I think the closest to was for me was about 18 years. I hope you move when you feel ready as it can take a lot out of you.
Enjoyed your poem and the lovely picture. Did you paint it?

I'm REALLY not looking forward to the day we end up relocating! Yikes! I've started sorting and throwing away already, even though we haven't definately decided to do anything.
No, the image is created in AI. Once, I was a painter. Now... Not so much. lol. It's very time consuming and the old eyes aren't what they used to be, I'm afraid.
Thanks so much, Helen, for your kind words.
Blessings,
Deb

Deb, I just Love your wonderful poem and the author notes that accompany it. I can see your children and grandchildren running through the house and yard. I hear their loud voices as they scream at one another in shrieks of joy, (and sometimes pain). I can relate to the fact that not everybody would be enamored with our house either but the intricacies of family memories are inextricably tied to a time and place. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Doc!
Ya' know... It just occurred to me that this is a blind contest. Oops... I should n't be signing any of these replies! :o
I guess each of us has 'stuff' about the house that needs repair after being in it for a long period of time. But it's still ours. Still home.
Blessings to you and yours,
Mystery Writer. lol!

I love how the Speaker talks with pride about the house she's lived in all these years. She gives us a vivid description of how the house and yard have changed. IpWe learn its history as well as hers. I am not a fan of AABB rhyming, but I really like your poem. And I love that artwork. Did you paint it? Rod

Thank you so much for your kind comments! I'm glad you enjoyed the poem, even though the rhyme scheme isn't your favorite. :)

That is lovely thanks for sharing. It reminds me of my house which now keeps out all the rain but it was touch and go for a while. You sound like you love your house it is a touching tribute.
