I missed seeing this earlier and what a great entry it was for the 5-7-5 contest. I love the metaphor of earth showing off her bling. Very creative imagery.

This 5-7-5, Jewelry Box, has the proper formatting and notes that the beauty of water reflects the daily proof of our place on the planet. We need to be aware of the water and its necessity everywhere.

This is a great poem for the 5-7-5 contest. Your syllable counts are perfect, and your descriptive words are well chosen. 'Resplendent' is a great word, and I like your closing phrase of 'bling collection' to describe the sparkles. Best wishes in the contest. Carol

Thank you, my friend.

You have a really great picture to illustrate your lovely poem. Nothing can quite compete with water for a dazzling shine, not even diamonds. The plight of the Natives in Canada doesn't sound much better than those in the US. Hopefully both countries are growing wiser about caring for ALL their citizens.

Thank you, my friend -- sadly, I don't see ANY inclinanation to do much... Our province's Premier is talking billions of dollars for corporate fat cat construction while Ontario's Indigenous still have no water treatment plant.

I love the sea when it looks like that. There was once a writer, Arnold Drake, who did many things including writing for DC Comics. In the days when movies were fun and didn't have bucket of blood squirting out of people's heads, he wrote a movie, "The Flesh Eaters" in which microorganisms like your Nature's Bling ate the flesh of anyone trapped by them. Despite the plot, it's a fun movie and you can watch it with the family, not like today.

Hi Dawn,
I really like this haiku about the beauty of sun light on water. It is a good metaphor.
Congrats on placing third in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Enjoy the rest of the day.

That is such a lovely 5-7-5 poem, Dawn. It's not often I understand these, but this one was a delight. That picture really does look resplendant with gems glittering in the water under natures sun rays. Well done, my friend, and good luck in the contest, not that I think you will need it with this one. Love and hugs, my dear friend. :)) Sandra xxx

The same is true in the US. We pay taxes and it's not used for what it should actually be used for. We have no say. May Americans live in poverty and shouldn't. Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us and good luck with the contest.

Nice shortie, Dawn. Also a very informative video. I thought that Canada would be one of the countries that had really good drinking water. I guess pollution is rampant all over the globe.

:( Pollution IS rampant, but off the reservations, we have excellent treatment plants -- the indigenous people's situation, however, is appalling, and makes me ill to think about it (and ANGRY)! Especially when I hear of the ridiculous ways government spends the taxes they collect from citizens that are NOT on reserves, not forced to live without the NECESSITY.
Thank you, Paul.

We are also the ones who came over here and stole their land and put them on those reservations. Have you seen the movie, Wind River"?

It's a shame that our waters are being muddy and polluted by illegal factories and people in general. The picture reminded me of how the river looks out my back door when the sun is glittering across it. What a beautiful sight.
Smiles, Carol
