Love this poem. I have a special place in my heart for all "on the spectrum" -- I developed it as an RN, while encountering children that some staff members would "avoid" because communication was "different"~~

Bless you for the important work you do! All of our children deserve to be respected and embraced with unconditional acceptance!

Please check:

Your lovely poem resonates with me. I particularly like your last stanza especially the final line, 'embrace the unique you.' I think 'normal' people struggle with this thought as well.

My youngest is on the spectrum though most people might just think him odd. Social skills are not his strength and yet he perceives things most people miss.

So often I think education's goal is to mold children to place in a box and if a child doesn't fit into the mold, others view the child as 'different'. And not in a good way.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful poem.

This is an excellent entry for the Children's Rhyming Poem writing prompt. This is a special poem for a special type of child that is often misunderstood and set aside rather than being treated as special and loved for their uniqueness. Very nicely written. Good luck.

Very good contest entry. Rhyming is clever and works particularly well in this poem. Love the image. Yes, the world of a child is certainly different to that of an adult. Fortunately, I have retained a lot of memories of my childhood. Take care and have a wonderful day.

Love your poem and I love the sound of you. Carers and parents are the most special of all the people the Good Lord made. My wife's sister and brother-in-law live nearby, and they have an autistic son, now 34. Watching them I see the difficulties they encounter. I also see a quality so rare in humanity generally. Many of you teachers share that quality and I thank you for that.

I enjoyed reading this poem. I am a retired special education teacher. I have worked with autistic students. They do live in a different world. You described your feelings well how you feel about the little boy. Very good job

I felt this poem is exceptional and describes well the mind of a child! The poem is descriptive, interesting and creative. Both my grown sons worked with autistic young adults. They learned a lot from them. The author's words flow and connect well. I also loved the title of this poem.
The artwork is awesome!
An exceptional poem!

What comes through in your poem here is this yearning to have a relationship with this boy closed up within his own little world. The mystery of that little world in his mind seems beyond our reach here. But there is also a sense of embracing the truth of one's unique character, and soul. The idea of loving someone in spite of their flaws for being unique. estory
