Things may get awkward if Wayne starts forcing his attentions on Abbey. Let's hope he's just an awkward geek and not a pervert. It's a good thing that any interaction between her and Alan is going to be at a distance, at least initially. Ginny may be able to keep things on an even keel, as long as the green-eyed monster doesn't start rearing its ugly head. Alan is going to have to tread very carefully.

That's the question: awkward but harmless geek or pervert? Warren's role in the story will eventually become clear.
Any predictions about the Abby-Ginnie-Alan triangle of characters?

Warren doesn't sound like the sort of preson I would like or trust. He may turn out to be trouble. I don't quite trust poker players. They are the gambler type who likes to be able to now allow someone to see they true self. I wonder if Ginnie might be a tiny bit Jealous of Abby. She seem intuitive as far as Warren is concerned.

Good instincts, Beth. I think there may be a tiny bit of jealousy there for Ginnie. We'll see how it goes when they meet again.
Comment from Ulla
Yes, Warren, definitely comes across being creepy. I certainly wouldn't trust him. We women are often good at detecting something like that. Alan should take notice. Ulla:)))

Yeah, he's starting to give everyone the creeps now. Maybe he's just a harmless geek, but then again, maybe he's more sinister than that.

This is another excellent chapter. You have introduced the oddness of the newly hired help. I liked that Ginnie introduced the idea of caution in his experiment.I do not see any need for improvement. Have a blessed day.

Thanks very much, Lee. He reminds me of a few socially awkward nerds I've met before. Hopefully he's just odd and nothing worse.

This chapter introduces new and interesting dynamics. I hope Ginnie is confident enough in herself that she doesn't become a nagging jealous woman fearful she has to compete with a young college student in another state. You have really developed Warren's character as an unusual, but realistic person who we must watch. I'm glad Alan has agreed with Ginnie to be cautious.

I've known a few nerdy guys like Warren who appear to have no social skills. Let's hope he's just a harmless teddy bear of a guy whom we don't need to worry about. Still, some caution is in order.
Comment from lyenochka
It's good that Ginnie is a good character judge. Her comments will probably give Alan the extra caution that he needs when he's around Warren. But hopefully, all the women in the area will also be safe. It's ironic that Alan, who was falsely accused of sexual assault may be working with someone who might be guilty of sexual assault.

I loved your perceptive comments here, Helen. Alan was quite taken aback by Warren's rude comments and refused to play along, but they did serve to make him more cautious about him as Ginnie had warned.
Comment from Wendy G
He needs to find a satisfactory reason to get rid of Warren ASAP. He'll be groping customers next, and stealing Alan's ideas as well. A very good development in the chapter, and I think Abby will work well with Alan - but Ginnie just may get a bit jealous! Very well written, as always.

Thanks very much, Wendy. I love your perceptive comments and the thought pattern you put into the story. We'll eventually get a good feel for the Alan-Ginnie-Abby dynamic.

Hi Jim,
another great chapter. I wish I had a six but I don't. What a conundrum, needing help, and hiring someone who is capable but is bringing some baggage with him. I can see where the gambling issue could be a problem in the future. Warren seems to be a little too open about his feelings too. I can appreciate that he could lust after a good looking woman, I'm guilty of that myself, but this guy seems to be lacking some moral character. I hope that the entrance of Abby into the picture isn't going to be change the dynamic with Ginnie and Tommy. It's human nature to be jealous. What Alan has right now would be hard to come by again, and if he messed up, he might never be able to recover. Well done Jim.
Have a blessed evening.

It's amazing how close your thought processes are to my own, Tom. You've picked up on all the things that crossed my mind and wrote into the story. It's gratifying to have a reader who sees the story the same way that I see it.

Perhaps because we're the same age group and possibly experienced some of the same things in our lives that we think a lot alike, at least in some things.

Ah, a good connection Jim, your characters are not only gifted and talented, but also good looking...why, of course. So you tie Abby and Alan together, because we know, Abby was instrumental in the practice suit's creation. Well done, I think Warren maybe a Judas. Blessings

Alan and Abby are kindred spirits when it comes to inventing. Hopefully she won't come between Alan and Ginnie. You may be right about Warren.
Comment from Carol Hillebrenner
Abby seems like a very good person to know. She has similar interests to his and would never steal his ideas. Warren has come off creepy before but what he said about Abby is way over the limit. You have done a good job of making him come off like a child rapist I used to have to work with between his prison terms. His sister was my boss.

Thanks, Carol. Oh, wow. You were in an unfortunate situation. Was your boss a low-life like her brother? How did you find out about his crimes?
-
My boss was one of the nicest people I
have ever known. She employed her brother because he had no contact with children there. If I was stuck working in the same greenhouse as him, he told me too much of what he did and boasted of the ones he hadn't been caught for and explained how he walked around with a Bible and went to church every Sunday until he found a single woman, with a little girl, he could marry. I made every effort to find something to do somewhere else every chance I got.
-
Wow! The guy didn't seem to carry any shame about it. I guess there's no hope for people like that (except maybe castration.)
-
I don't think the Big C would have done it for him. He actually enjoyed being in prison.
