A non-judgemental little piece about drinking! 11 years ago I gave it up, it wasn't doing me any favors!
Hope you have a wonderful day and get to have some good old-fashioned belly
laughs!
I have a spiritual things about owls, hoot hoot, I just love them! Maddy

I hope you have an excellent day, too, Maddy! I've loved owls since I was a little girl. I appreciate your comments.

Great commentary on social drinking and that it could really be a "mask" for dealing with pain, depression, or fears. You met this challenge well and hope this does well in the contest!

Well done on the 161 rhyming scheme, I love your word choices, it really creates the story you are trying to portray! Good image used to accompany your poem! True despite the side effect of alcohol , it is a confident booster and gives you joy even if it is temporary. It is a way to create long lasting friend and be yourself without caring about your problems. Good luck in the contest! A very good piece this is!

This is a short and pithy reminder that when we're in trouble we can get drunk! Unfortunately there is a negative side to the self medication, it's called alcoholism. And we don't need to go there! L O L

How true! My husband was a physician, and "self-medicated" himself to death via cirrhosis (not a good way to die, if there is such a thing).

Sorry for your loss but you have the courage and fortitude to sound the alarm that others may here of the pitfalls that come with the liquid mask.

An excellent entry for the 1-6-1 poem writing prompt. I know so many people who would agree with this poem. Myself. I drink wine, but wine doesn't rhyme with cheers, so you win! :-) Nicely done. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you very much. I told myself that it takes more than one beer to get drunk, because I really wanted to use "Cheers" :-)
I, too, prefer wine to beer!
