Ahh, I see you are trying the heartstrings approach to spreading your fruitist bias. You've dragged God into the conversation AND you throw homeschoolers under the bus as the purveyors of this subversive misinformation.

Yep, I've been neck-deep in the homeschool community since 1998. This sheds some light on your brilliance and independent thinking! :-)

Well the latter for sure. Most of the homeschoolers I know were in the top 2% academically, and I think we were just very lucky that our parents were all highly dedicated as they had to prove to the public school system that we were above reproach. In the 80s and 90s, only 1% of kids were homeschooled and we were treated with suspicion. We were definitely not cool, and we lost all our soccer matches. Not sure when homeschooling became cool. Maybe 2020.

The last figures I heard were in 2023 15% of children in the US were homeschooled. Tripled from 2020. Combo of Covid, masking, zoom classes, transgender policies, DEI etc... Your mom was a real trailblazer doing it in the 80s. It wasn't even legal in many states then.

LOL I loved this poem and it makes an excellent entry for the 5-5-5 poetry writing prompt. I, too, feel some kind of way about bananas versus plantains! People who try to pass off plantains as edible are of the devil in my opinion! Thanks for sharing and for the smile.
