No, there no knights in shining armor. Perhaps a few idealistic souls tilting at imaginary windmills. And not all women are damsels in distress. Just a few hardworking souls doing their best to cope. But when we do meet that special someone who has our back - that's pretty amazing. Hold onto each other and slay those dragons together.

Thank you very much for reading and reviewing, June. I really appreciate the time you gave to the poem. I think sometimes I fall a little into the Don Quixote category of chasing windmills, so I appreciated the reference. I hope you have a wonderful week. Thanks again, K.

I like this methaphor:"My life has many dragons to vanquish,
each a battle harder fought than the last
until I am beaten and bloody and bowed.
So often I do not think I can continue,
yet you are there whispering, "I have faith in you."" Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Your poem represents real life, and how love IS. The willingness to continue to truly support one another while we slay our dragons is worth everything. I love your last verse about not being a prize, nor he a knight.
I'd love to read a poem by you about what happens when we see the dragon in our love's s eyes and the battle is with one another.
Anyway, wonderful work!

Thank you very much for reading and reviewing, Nicki. I apologize for the delay in response, but I very much appreciate the time you gave the poem (along with the thoughts about it you shared that make me itch to write a sequel dealing with that other person's dragon). I hope you have a wonderful week. Thank you again, K.

This is beautiful. For me it captures love as a source of strength. I thought the entire poem was beautiful in showing how you count on each other to get through life. Very nicely done! It's a beautiful love poem.
