Ciao mystery poet,

You now have 4 votes.

Yes, It is better than being on the streets but still it is not living just existing.

It's a prison of sorts because there is always someone telling where to go , where to sit.

Having a computer helps, its a means to keep up with what s going on out side.

It's also a wondrous library at your finger tips , full of interesting video , documentaries etc

And writing poetry helps to vent frustration etc.

I don't have family so I can only hope to die in my sleep or get knock down by a car.

This made me chuckle and also touched me. I have been a geriatric nurse for 30+ years. I understand everything you described in very personal ways. As a caregiver and family member. Your presentation was very good. Thank you for writing on a topic that is not addressed enough.

This was very good. I had tears in my eyes reading it. From beginning to end this was very captivating. Not much I can say. This is a classic. Nice complimentary picture too. Good job.

I would know you anywhere Jim. You are far braver than I am. I wish I was there to help or at least make fun of people with you. We could write hideous stories about their secret lives. Mrs. Hunderson who, until her mind went doolally, was a secret nympho. When she started grabbing strangers off the street to do the deed with, the neighborhood called the cops.
Things like that. :-) Love ya sweetie. Karen

I am old but your poem confirmed I should not look forward to living in a senior residence. The Speaker's daily routine--except when he briefly goes outside--is hardly anything. To cheer for. He finds little solace in the company of his peers. Though vividly drawn, this world is depressing. Rod

I'm afraid many people in these places are just going through the routine of breathing amid slight movement and have little to look forward to.

Oh how wonderful to thing that could be me writing that in a few years/ months/weeks/days! Who knows what will happen if we reach tomorrow? This is a nightmare, and so many people are forced to live that way forever! And it will get worse! But we don't want to go that far, do we? Lol. This is a great story, even if it will send most of us to the pills cupboard! Well done, I did have a giggle. Good luck in the contest! :)) Sandra xx

Thank you! I assure you, if I didn't have The Lord. if I didn't have my daughter's love, and my niece, it would be so easy to fall into this trap!
