This was disturbing! Excellent desciptions that drew me in and gave me the chills. The artwork brought it all together. An good entry for the Newbie Flash Fiction contest. Good luck.

Wow, I had to take a second look to make sure this was fiction, and was glad to see it was. This wasn't anything I would have expected from you, but I love your versatility. Thanks for sharing

Wow! Thank goodness this is fiction! In a few words, you've given us quite aq gruesome image. Well done! And I especially like the way you tell your tale without unneeded expletives.

This piece of flash fiction was very interesting. You told a great story in very few words, which was the whole point. I wonder if your character will become a ghost after the death they welcome. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thank you so much for the review. It was definitely very challenging to write a complete story in 100 words. That is probably why this is the first time I have attempted. Thanks again for your encouraging words.

It's one thing to "see dead people," and seeing icky creatures you describe would be bad enough, but the gut punch in this story is the idea is not being able to look in the mirror without seeing a monster. The narrator must be a monster, for what we are is bounded by what we are able to see and how our thoughts interpret that. Who is Death, that it is calling? How can it be answered? Enquiring minds want to know. (smile)

Very original idea! So, if you get a tumor on your pituitary gland, you grow into a giant. But if you get a tumor on your pineal gland, you see dead people!
Have you ever read any of the studies about DMT experiments and how they stimulate the pineal gland, and what the people see when they're on the drug? Right in line with what you're talking about.

"tumor perk " :-)

Good stuff! Julie

I have not, but now you have certainly peaked my interest. I will have to check it out. This was fun to write. I am thinking, maybe a larger story to play with here ;-).
I need more time in the day, hehe.
Thanks a lot Julie, have a great weekend.

I recommend DMT: The Spirit Molecule by Rick Strassman. A fascinating read. I emailed the author and had quite a few messages back-and-forth with him. I thought what he was doing was pretty unwise from a spiritual point of view. But it was still very interesting!

This is a well-written story. This post was captivating from start to finish. Good description of what you could see with the "third eye." Your picture does compliment the story well. Nice job.

Awe, thank you so much. Fun to write. Surprised myself I could in 100 words. I am always way too "wordy" ;-). Hehe
    Thanks again.
