This really is an amazing write. It is emotional, moving and a tear-producer. I must confess my eyes moistened as John approached Jeremy. As a reader the story demanded my full attention while as a viewer I almost felt I was close enough to be actually participating in the action, Sensational.

Well done Debi. You've written this with emotions and understanding. I really felt I could hear the voices of these two young teenagers struggling with their own feelings of worth. Beautifully written,
Hugs

This was an incredible thing for your brother to do. I could see the scene happening before me as I was reading it and the way how you described it was so powerful. It is so upsetting to think about how many lives suicide claims each year. An excellent piece of writing, Debi.

Awe, Jacob, once again you have put the biggest smile on my face.
I am so appreciative of your kind comments for this story about the pain of suicide. I felt the need as my grandkids are about that age now and the increased rate really bothers me. Thanks again, my dear friend. Love, Debi

Wow, what a wonderful description! -- "It was so quiet that you could hear a leaf drop from a tree."

"My heart sank as I heard him make that statement. Many questions were going through my mind. Was John telling the truth when he said that he had contemplated doing the same thing? Is this what my mother wasn't telling me? Had John, too, been close to suicide?" -- Deb, I have no words -- this is SO touching!

"By now, John was within a foot of Jeremy, and I heard John say, "did you ever ask them to listen to you about how you feel about things? " -- Capital letter for "(D)id you..."

Fabulous story!

Thanks Dawn. You are a sweetheart! Hey, I need to ask something of you I have never asked before of anyone. I am looking to get my 26th review before midnight NY time, and was wondering if you wouldn't mind looking at my USA poem, my most recent. I have a good reason for asking so thank you if you can and I understand if you can't.

I was just stopping in briefly before going back to bed, and read this, so I went to your port but found someone beat me to it. :) I will be back later today, though. xxoo

Hi Debi,
well, you know how to push my emotional buttons... gotta say, I had tears blurring my view at times, but I bravely read on:))

This is such a poignant story, so relatable and you relayed it so well within the voice and narration of a what I am presuming to be a female of around seventeen.

I know this story... well not this story, but many with the very same context. I myself have been in these shoes... and have lost more than a few friends over my time to suicide. It's not something you every really get over. You always wonder if you may have read the signs you yourself had, would it have turned out differently? One of those life things we will never know I guess.

So for me, you telling this story and including 'John' as someone who experienced the darkness of depression and hopelessness to Jeremy with an understanding was outstanding.

Beautiful write Debi... confronting, yes, important, triple yes!

With our thoughts we create...
a bridge of empathy.

Warmest regards,
James.

Thanks so very much, James. You are so awesome and I appreciate your compassionate comments and you have honored me with your six stars.
They all mean the world to me.

If this helps one person, I would be so grateful. And yes, I did have a friend who did this and I tried so hard to reach them, but I didn't tell anyone and it was a guilt trip for many years, but eventually you have to forgive yourself.

He was sick and needed more than I could give so now I am wiser and much older, as this was when I was a teen.

Thank you again, my wonderful friend for being a friend and for being you. You are the best!!
Yes, I know I always say that and has nothing to do with the six stars.
Just a six star friend. Lotsa Love, Debi

Thanks again, my dear friend. Love, Debi

It may turn into a mutual appreciation club if I start with my thoughts. But know I enjoyed your writing and this particular topic... as you, I know it is a very important issue right across the board... men, women and children. Depression is a heinous emotion and I'm not sure what purpose it serves? Hmmmm, I'll have to give that some more serious assessment and get back to you:)
You're a good friend, truly grateful you accepted me into your circle of friendship. You've made my world a happier place.
    (((((Jumbo hugs)))))

I'm glad this is fictional for you but we know it does happen all too often especially to young people.
It seems to be on the news frequently these days. In that I have 11 grandchildren, it is a concern.
Thank you for sharing.

Blessings
Janet

Hi Kelly, thank you so much for the kind words for this piece, but because you used the word amazing twice, I have to assume the four star rating was a slip of the finger. And if that is the case, I would be very grateful for you to change it to the five you must have meant to give it. As the four star cancels out a six star. Thank you in advance, my friend. Debi

This is an easy read that had this reader wanting more.
Story had a very nice pace and a good flow.
I am sure there are thousands of young children that lack parents that engage with them daily.
Being a parent is much more than just having a child.

Thank you.

Debi, you did a good job telling this fictional story as if it were real. I believed it as I read through from beginning to end a tear ran down my cheek thinking how sad a young teen would try to commit suicide. Well written and thanks for sharing this problem with us here at fanstory.
