"Please join me in remembering" is a whimsical and humorous poem that pays tribute to a beloved icon of the food community, affectionately known as "Poppin' Fresh" or the "Doughboy." Through clever wordplay and creative imagery, the poem celebrates the life and legacy of this iconic figure while also poking fun at the quirks and idiosyncrasies associated with him.

Thanks so much, Hassan, for the wonderful review! I was inspired to write this poetic version of an old joke on the obituary of the Pillsbury Doughboy. I had fun putting it together in poetry form and am so happy that you enjoyed! Thank you again and have a lovely day!

Very good! But what happened to Bert and Harry Piels, Speedy Alka Seltzer, and Bucky Beaver (he sold Ipana Toothpaste in the fifties). Then, there were all the old sugar sellers of cereals, the Sugar Bears (sugar Crisp), Sugar Pops Pete, and Tony The Tiger before he reformed and stopped using the word "sugar". You have a lot more material to work with!

Hi, Jim! Thank you for the great review! There are truly a lot of food characters that lend for some interesting stories! This one was actually inspired from a funny joke about the death of the Pillsbury Doughboy... Couldn't resist putting in into rhyme! Thank you again and have a lovely day!

Nicely done elegy for a pop cultural icon that is sadly no more. Every year we seem to loose many of these pop cultural icon like Aunt Jemima's pancakes, and Lady of the Lake butter

Hello Mimi,
Marvelous creativity in this fun poem of the story of "Poppin' Fresh."
So many of the icons of the past have met this fate
One morning they simply could not to rise
or different tastes and attitudes led to their demise
And In Australia, it's just one more tale of a stale-mate
Love the perfect rhymes and meter.
Here's to Poppin'

Thank you so much, Robert, for the wonderful review. I was inspired to put into poetic form the joke/story of the Obituary of the Pillsbury Doughboy written by unknown author several years ago, although never got around to putting the poem together until just a couple of weeks ago. I'm so happy that you enjoyed my poetic interpretation. Thank you again and have a wonderful evening!

Thank you for sharing this story in a poem contest entry. It's adorable to read and very creative. I remember all of those poppin fresh treats. The rhyming scheme is very good. I enjoyed reading and good luck with the contest.

Thanks so much, Barbara, for a great review. I'm so happy you enjoyed my poetic take on the story/joke on The Obituary of the Pillsbury Doughboy. It was written several years ago (author unknown) and I'd always thought it would be really fun to put it into poetic form. I'm so happy you enjoyed! Thanks again and have a wonderful evening!

Mimi, what a great nonsensical and humorous "...story in a poem." Lots
of iconic slogans and master chefs from the cuisine world intermingled
with poetics to create this this G-rated fun read. Thanks for sharing and
good luck in the contest. teafor2

Again, I apologise for not having any sixes. This was so deserving of a maximum. It was rich in creativity, perhaps in parts a little overcooked, but it promised a taste of sheer delight. I'm left with one question. Do you do deliveries? If so, could you estimate how long it would take to deliver to Junee, Australia. And would it arrive still FRESH?
Brilliantly written. Perhaps you could deliver it personally. Jeanette, my wife will greet you at the door.

Did you previously write under another name, your photo looks familiar

Hi, Bob - I've always written under the pen-name of Mimi Linny; however, I did just change my profile photo.

Wonderful tribute to the Pillsbury doughboy. I think it included everything, except his politically correct weight loss when they trimmed his tummy down. Great job, weaving all those words and phrases together into a funny poem.

Thanks so much, Julie, for the great review. So happy you enjoyed... As mentioned in the comments below the poem, I was inspired by the original short story on the obituary of the Pillsbury Doughboy (from many years ago). I ran across the story a couple of weeks ago and decided it was time to give it that old "poetic" try! LOL! I'm so happy you enjoyed! Thank you again and have a wonderful evening!
