Sunflowers can refer to Ukraine, where they are highly valued. Certainly many Ukrainians remember the beauty of their country before the war, and dream of a return of peace.

We even have the poppy fields. Thank you for sharing this presentation with us. Sunflowers don't like heat and drought, well either do poppies. I enjoyed reading.

Gypsy,

The same holds for the poppy fields in France. Yellow flowers usually represent joy and happiness and makes us smile.

Some of these flowers seem to sprout even on tarred or cement streets (-; Nature is powerful even in our darkest hours.

A powerful poem, Gypsy.....it's tragic and a sign that we seem to have abandoned them to their terrible fate because of one mentally ill man's traitorous scheme

I'll never forget that one Ukrainian grandmother who gave a Russian soldier sunflower seeds and told him, "Put these in your pocket so sunflowers will grow from your body after they bury you."
War is horrible. Putin is worse.

wow, that is a really creepy thing to tell a soldier but I guess when you live through war time it's different.

Thank you very much, big sister :) have a wonderful weekend.

It was creepy but rather ballsy of that Ukrainian grandma to tell off the Russian soldier that he's going to die.

Oh... that makes more sense. When I read it I thought it was an Ukrainian soldier.

There are some things that creation keeps doing that confound the wisdom of men, whom men consider disaster is about to strike, creation keeps on keeping on, a sign that God is not concerned, well done, blessings Roy

Such a very contrasting image. The beauty of the sunflower fields and the bombed remnants of a city are like yin and yang. Nature preserves despite human intervention. Great poem. Gretchen
