I really enjoyed this, Beth. Hooray for the introverts! Me, my wife, and both my kids are of the same ilk, so I could definitely relate to Emily. She actually had lots to say; she just needed to be drawn out by a good conversationalist like Brian appeared to be.

There was a great buildup to this meeting, and we could understand Emily's hesitancy, but as much as she tried to suppress her desires, they finally asserted themselves with a wonderful result. Sometimes patience pays off.

Really enjoyable story. - Jim

Thank you so much for the great review on my story. I'm glad you liked it. I somewhat interverted too and my husband definitely was. The four kids are mixed bag with one extreme extrovert. I really appreciate the six stars.

In today's modern society, there are many young ladies in their mid-twenties who are not partnered with anyone. Many women, like Emily, travel, join online groups and meet up to participate in activities, or create their own businesses. Your story is a realistic depiction of today. When Emily stopped worrying about meeting a man, the perfect man came into her life. Great story. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank so much for the review and comment. The contest is over and I realized it couldn't win because it was way short of the 2000 words required. I ran it again because it was just short of the reviewed needed for a Best of Best status.

The author tells a good story. To enhance the story dialogue tags would help.
Suzanne's phone call as written is long with no tag. Is Suzanne sitting down at the kitchen table or outside on the patio? Is it after dinner or just before bedtime?

We know Emily is twenty-five but is she fat, thin, short, tall? What color hair? What does she wear when out of her white nurse's uniform?

Why does Emily think Brian is handsome? Is he tanned? Is he in a business suit? Is he bald or black hair? Does he have a beard? Does he wear after shave?

Showing really works when writing.
As the saying goes, "Show don't tell."

Thank you.

Thanks for my twenty-sixth review. it is always nice to get it promotedf the Best of Best status. Most writing sites discourage tags. Particular when the conversation is only between two and it is obvious who is talking. Maybe you missed the paragraph where I describe her having a shaply figure, a nice clothes, and being attractive with a chic hair style. You are the only one who questioned any of those things, but thanks for stopping by and doing a review.

I really enjoyed reading this story. I'm glad it had a good ending. It was well written and very interesting. I honestly dont think there is a true love like you see in the movies. I guess that is because I have never experienced that . Great job

I like the fact it's so unpredictable. Just like real life, it waits until we are complete in ourselves before we get to meet someone of interest. A nice little piece with a good ending.

This is a great-written story. It kept my interest through to the end and wanting more. It could be the beginning of a book. It has so much potential and possibilities. Who knows, it could become a best seller. Best wishes in the contest.

Great job with this budding romance story. I had to chuckle about the mothers who tried to get their kids together. That was the way long before online dating. This guy, Brian, if he really is all he says he is, sounds perfect for Emily!

Thank you Helen. I won't work for the contest because because it is short a few hundfred works. I didn't read it carefully. It was sort of a take on my granddaughter. The fixup was real. Kimberly doings. LOL
Lauren wouldn't go for online dating.

Oh, I was wondering if the people were real. 😊💖 But as pretty as all your daughters are, the situation didn't fit any of them. Now I see it's your granddaughter!

It's hard to believe a pretty girl would escape the notice of a worthwhile guy or two, but this sounds perfect. You are good at turning your hand to fiction, tryouts are a talented writer Beth, I loved this post, good luck, blessings Roy

What a fun story. Love is one of those things that some people find easily and others have to work at. Looks like Emily just got on with life and it snuck up on her.
Great job building the story and leaving the ending open for the reader to imagine.
Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you for the nice review and comments on my story. I knew this one had no chance of winning because after I posted it I found that it needed 2000 words. I was fun to write ane I'm glad you like it.

Enjoyed and liked your story. I'm thinking that Emily is a daughter. Sometimes fate does work wonders and things happen fast and furiously. Good luck with this posting. I like the family touch and feelings.

I finally caught up on my postings and therefore I must get busy again today.

Thank you Rosemary. The story is sort of the personality of my granddaughter. She is nurse and is 28. She has started traveling all over now the her younger sister has married but so far she has met the perfect guy. I hope my fictional story will come true for her.
