This poem is indeed ominous, and we can only imagine the terrible loss. Those gathered can only try to find a way to go forward, and hope to find strength after this loss.

I'm guessing by the canceled baby shower that the infant was lost. That is a horrible situation some mothers have to go through. It does hurt. You did a good job with emotion in this poem without really expressing it. It's understood. Great job.

Awe, this one made me sad. Having suffered a miscarriage at 16 weeks, I immediately remembered the devastation and heartbreak. No reason for it other than nature and God's will. Gretchen

I've known several ladies who have had repeated miscarriages and I'm so sad for them. I would think the "canceled baby shower" would be even harder because by then the pregnancy was further along.
