I enjoyed reading the chapter where you went to great links to select the proper name for your cats. It is fun to have new pets in your life. The names are interesting choices. I hope you cat will like them. My cat doesn't seem to be inclided to come when called with any name. I've never known cats who were particularly obedient.

Thanks, Beth! Yes, they're not known for obedience, although my beautiful Sally used to come to me when she was called. :)

I'm glad you shared your cats with us. The sad thing is pets usually die and break our hearts.

Our first dog we got after getting married was a border collie we called Sally. Although I don't have cats I found this intriguing how you went through so many names before settling on Oskar and Harley. They will sound like very cool cats when being called. Enjoy.
Cheers

If this was back in 2010, I'm guessing your cats are no more? Or are these new cats that you recently bought? I'm sure they will be great companions. And hopefully not too mischievous when you're at work!

Thank you! Yes, the second of my two girls sadly passed away in September last year, hence my new two boys. :)

Hello Navada,
It's interesting that you put so much effort into finding the right name. I'm sure that since you are so particular about the name that the care you give your cats will be exceptional. Way to go gal. We had a dog named Rigby, and we also had a number of cats. I believe the last one we just called Kitty Boy. It wasn't too original, but it didn't keep him from coming when it was time to eat. Well done gal.
Have a blessed day.

Ha! Thanks so much, Tom. I'm afraid these kitties are going to be very spoiled, but hopefully in the right ways. :)

I loved this, Navada. Very amusing what you went through in choosing your second cat's name. I named Archie in my story for my own Archie (who amazingly enough is a 4-year-old ginger too). We were originally going to call him Arnie, after one of my all-time favorite golfers, Arnold Palmer, but at the last minute changed it to Archie because we figured we would often call him by the nickname Arch, which sounded better than Arn.
I love Harley. I've known only one Harley in my life, though I did know a girl named Farley. I was amused by your description of Baileys being stinkpots. My wife taught first grade, and she said almost all boys starting with a J, like Josh or Justin, were stinkpots too. (So she marries a Jim)

Ha! That's hilarious! Names are interesting things for teachers, given that we come across such a variety of people with a variety of personal characteristics. :)

I like Ramsey, but that feels more like a dog name; it has heft, and cats are sleek. I am allergic and cannot have furry things around me. But even so, in the past, I have had cats now and then. But my allergies are more pronounced now so that I won't get a cat. Besides, I could not bend and lift a litterbox. Good luck to you and your new family. :-) Karen

Thank you! Yes, the litterbox is a challenge. I have a few mobility issues but thankfully so far I can manage.

I am happy for you. I guess I will live vicariously through you. :-) Karen

It's quite a process, but I like your choices, and the names are individual. When we got Sunny from a Rescue/Rehome place, his name was Crank, which did not suit him at all. I considered changing it to Frank but thought it was a bit too close. In the end his sunny personality made the decision easy, and he's always lived up to it. (He has a doggie friend called Harley, a truly beautiful dog). Lovely writing, and I am looking forward to hearing more about them in due course.

I love naming animals, I'm not a great fan of naming cats or dogs what I consider haven't got imaginitve enough., with names like, Peter Habakkuk, Beep. Snap Crackle and Pop. I wanted name one Mephibasheth, but I was overruled. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

Wonderful commentary on how you came about the names. I will just have you know that my husband lived in Harleysville when I met him!
We go through the name game every year with the birth of lambs and kids on the farm. I gave up naming the chickens a long time ago...
Would you be able to somehow number your submissions so that I read them in order? Thanks so much for sharing! Julie :-)

Thanks, Julie! They should be appearing as chapters in the book called You've Gotta Be Kitten Me! so hopefully the chapter numbers are appearing at the top of the page. They're more or less stand alone stories. :)
