With eyes wide open, hate is indeed a strong word, so strong I was never allowed to use it in the presence of my father. This was not as easy as it first seemed. Good luck with the competition.

Thank you. Hate is indeed strong and a curse. I try not to use it, but yesterday was a result of a difficult situation and a release of sorts. Thank you for your encouragement.

Your poem was nice, but according to the rules of the contest, each line had to rhyme, and yours did not. Also, there were too many syllables in your second line. I hope you're able to fix this. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Excellent

This could be an excellent entry for the 1-6-1 contest,
but the prompt requires three end rhymes.
You'll have to edit to get them in there if you want to stay in the contest.
Otherwise, a good theme, different from many of the others.
