-Lovely photo and nice presentation, John.
-You wrote a wonderful tribute to your mother.
-I am sorry you lost her too soon.
-The repetition of the first line and
the feelings you express come from your heart
and I feel like I know your mother. Maybe it's
because I lost my mother and father when
they were in their 70's, and I thought that was too soon, too.
-The third and fourth verses express your
deepest emotions about the fear you faced.
-You have a very good attitude, and I think
our parents do leave an imprint on us.
-We are very lucky if they do.
-This line about living amidst life's storms
resonates with me.
-A very good concluding verse.
-A very good entry; good luck!!

Thank you, Pam for such a heartwarming and touching review. I can tell you have the same strong feelings for your parents as I do for my mother. God shines His light on us when He sends such strong and loving people to take care of us. In my case, He let her stuff so much love into a short 13 years. I appreciate your review and good luck wish. Blessings to you. John

You are very welcome for the review, John. I agree with your comment about having "strong and loving people to take care of us." I am sorry you only had 13 years. You wrote a beautiful tribute. I think your mother appreciated it where she is, as well.
-
Thank you. I hope she did.

You are welcome.

John,
One can tell this is written with passion and a love that can only be transformed onto paper if it resonates deeply with the author.
It's a beautiful tribute to your mom and a beautiful photo. Best, JohnC

I've never received such a powerful review in so few words. I love sincerity, simplicity and brevity, and sir, you are a master at them. I salute you! Thank you so much for your beautiful review and especially the sixth star, John

This is simply superb. In my eyes this is my mother. So for that alone, I thank you. It would appear our Mother's were sisters. Or at least born of the same mould. May I congratulate you on such a marvelous post. I also love the picture of the old house in the photo accompanying this poem.

Thank you, Bob. I think there are a lot of mothers out there who would fit into this poem. Mothers are special, especially the loving ones who were taken from us too soon. I appreciate your generous review, particularly the sixth star. The photo of the old house was taken in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee near Gatlinburg. Blessings to you, my friend. John

Thats a lovely old photograph, I have a similar one of my mum. I loved this poem about your mother, the values and the lessons she taught you. Good luck in the contest, john.

I don't think there could be a poem sweeter than this -- your rhyme and slant rhyme are wonderful, the meter excellent, but it's the topic -- it can't be bested. She was lovely, IMHO, with an air of mystery about her similar to that most famous Mona Lisa.
Best of luck in the contest.

I'm honored that such a gifted writer as yourself would take the time to review my work. You taught me a new term: "slant rhyme." I had to google it, and my use of it was totally accidental. I had no idea it was an "art." I just thought I had done a poor job of rhyming. When we meet again face to face, I'll tell her she was compared to the Mona Lisa. That should make her smile... Thank you so much for a most enjoyable and positive review. Blessings to you.

This is very beautifully written as a tribute to your dear mother. Your fluent and well-rhymed verse is well-constructed, telling a story of your life with her from babyhood until her passing and then the values she imprinted on you and the fact that she is with you forever, conjoined through faith. An excellent and moving entry, John. Well done and good luck! Debbie

Beautiful! Virtual six! I would like more time to spend with my daughter, but I hope to meet my family and especially my wife in Heaven, after praising my Lord. My mother was a great mom and simple woman. I let my parents down many times by my behavior. But, The Lord was patient and finally straightened me out.

Thank you, Jim. I think we all have regrets at times when it comes to our parents. But I don't think our actions had an effect on their love for us. It's the same way with god, He forgives and forgets. In that respect we should be eternally grateful. I appreciate your review. John

Wonderful entry for the A poem about a Woman contest.
Ah... the baby boy's first love, well is the same for both.
Your mom was a beautiful woman.
I lost my mom when I was 10 years old. It's a huge loss of the kind of love that can't be replaced.

Thank you, Gypsy. She was beautiful inside and out, as I'm sure your mother was as well. I was 13 when Mother died, and I remember it like it was yesterday. She's been gone a long time, but my love is still there and is as strong as ever. I'm glad you can relate. I appreciate your sweet comments. John

This is a wonderful tribute to your mother and a mother's love. I loved the repeating line in each stanza that gave the reader a better understanding of the depth of her love and yours.
Well done.
Blessings
