We do our best to help out with the childcare and I have tried my best with mine too and they are growing fast now. Raising children today with the pressures of work is not easy, I am glad you are getting involved Bill, a fine post, love Dolly x

I know. My son might have multiple children in the next few years. That's why I'm traveling and having fun. Babysitting is fun, a different kind of fun. I would like to help but my son's girlfriend sometimes gets mad and she doesn't seem to like us to be around. I wish they don't get married. But it's not up to me.
Well done.

Pragmatism will likely cure all other factors when it comes to babysitting.

I hope so.
Thanks.

Children will never forget their Grandparents, it just takes some time for them to realize how much you had to do with their upbringing and safe keeping, an excellent read, I do hope everything is OK****kahpot

They will know you, and remember. My kids remember stuff from when they were little, and they are in their forties. You gave foundation and constancy to their lives. And it sounds as if you spent more time with them than their parents did. I never understood why parents had kids if they weren't going to raise them. Karen

I hope your wife will be well and back home soon.
In my life, I've found sickness sometimes helps bring you closer to those you love. My wife had a painful C-Section and suffered a terrible infection afterward. Each night, I had to open an incision, clen it out, and put gauze in it. I learned maybe I could've been a doctor, after all, as my dad wanted. I had to spend much time diapering and taking care of my daughter. I am so thankful for that time. As I've told others, each night she calls to say "I Love You!"

You don't know what you can do until you HAVE to do it!

Your last line is a wonderful summary of the feelings and emotions one experiences as the closeness and togetherness of looking after grandchildren draws to a close. I am going through the same, but for different reasons. I am sure that the loving relationship you have built will last.

Oh Bill how wonderful that you were able to be close to them while they were little. I'm sure yours and Kathy's help was appreciated. I enjoyed reading your story.

That's quite a schedule you were on. I've been in that situation, too, and sometimes, it's exhausting. Good they have begun to handle it themselves. You have enough on your plate now. Best wishes to your wife for complete and speedy recovery.

I watched my oldest grandchild for a couple of years when she very young. I dont' think she really remembers it. I don't she her often now but when I do she is aways friendly and trying to catch up.The other two are the same. They are all my son's children. I can't say we are as close as my children were with my mom ane dad. I'd like to think they will stay at least as close as they are. Time will tell. Grandchildren are special family links we want to have continue.
