We never know what goes on behind closed doors, and when there is a drunk in the house the odds of abuse or violence escalates dramatically. Personally, I'll never understand why anyone drinks someone that cause their IQ to drop from hero to zero in a short period. Thanks for sharing another fine post.

It's always a pleasure to read whatever you write. Keep dry and warm . . . comfy as you can. :-)

I just entered a story for this contest, and I dare not compare mine with yours. This is a remarkable piece. I found no issues of spelling or grammar. Your story makes me wonder if this is fictional or nonfictional because it is so realistic and relevant. All the best in the contest.

Thank you for the kind words and stars. Don't let my effort affect faith in your work. I don't think my story is tight enough. Good luck in your writings.

The story and writing kept me engaged from beginning to end. Your characters are well developed and there are several enbedded stories about the relationships. Well done.

There's a lot going on here, but it seems To me there's something of contrasts, and in many ways resembles the strivings of folk not only now but in any age, and the sherrif is a good father and hubby, and loved the comment about his once incredibly injured thigh with a bayonet, and he's declared damaged goods, well done, blessings Roy

Your perception is on point ... my original small story idea kind of exploded on me. I always appreciate finding a review from you when I wake up.
