Hi Bill,
My wife doesn't trust me either. We have a lot of breakable ornaments, super delicate. They must be wrapped just so, and placed just so. But I'm not a "just-so" man. She knows it. The kids know it. You and I are cut from the same cloth. We're all thumbs. We don't take time for the process. We're bulls in a chicken coop, and there are eggs in our path!
I enjoyed your dismay, Bill. Good Luck!
Cheers,
Kimbob

I did the tree and the kitchen. My kids will pack the rest.

Are you saying that your dear sweet family thinks you cannot dismantle a Christmas tree? Are you terribly clumsy? Incredibly impatient with garland yanking?
I've never broken anything myself. But I do not buy any breakables. Good wishes to you and your family. Karen

I may exaggerate their fear.

So hopefully your son and daughter will come around very soon to help with taking the decorations down. If not, leave them there, and you'll be super early for next Christmas! Lol.

There's an idea.
Comment from Dolly'sPoems
Oh dear Bill, not being trusted to take down the Christmas decorations sounds like an opinion based on some experience. When you put the decorations away you have to bear in mind the fact that they will be used again next year and use a methodical method with care and consideration, labelling boxes and storing them properly. Or maybe your wife does not want two casualties in hospital? A fun post, love Dolly x

Lol. I loved "whose destructive record dwarfs Alexander the Great." Go, Bill, Go! You can do it. Nah, I better not go against the wishes of your entire family. Please take it easy and just wait for Adam and Katie to help.

Ha, ha, ha man they do trust you with breakable: )"Katie agreed, but also added that I would really only succeed in making a difficult operation seem like a "bridge-too-far" for a thumb-handed man whose destructive record dwarfs Alexander the Great. Thank you for making me laugh today.

I'm the kind that you don't tell me I can't do anything, because I will bust a gut doing it. Children should offer help without the reasons why. We feel old enough without that.

Isn't it amazing that someone who survived the harsh demands of military service. someone who managed to find employment when many could not, someone who managed to sire and help raise a generation of discipline resistant children, how this person is suddenly incapable of the simplest task. I know you hear me, Bill.

I never realized how old I was until I had children.

That's all it takes, someone telling you 'NO' and then carrying on to tell you why. I can just imagine you mumbling and moaning as you got the boxes out. LOL. I wonder how many of the "could-have-lasted-a-lifetime" super-breakable ornaments came to the end of their long lives. At least you can hide the boxes away and no-one need know until next Christmas. And thats when you suggest a Christmas away?? LOL Can't wait for the 'further disposition'. :)) Sandra xx

Thank you, Sandra. I approach the job with trepidation.
