Hi Bill,
I've always found that removing the ornaments from a Christmas tree, along with packing away all the season's decor, is a sad time. Right away, I start looking ahead to the next Christmas. Now, for you & Kathy too, dethroning the tree, and disposing of wreaths and Christmas baubles would be extra sad... because she couldn't enjoy them at all. And, I suspect it was very difficult for you to take much pleasure in them, a waste of time and energy in decorating.
I think you did the right thing, though, in packing it all away for Kathy's release from hospital. If left up, they'd only be a reminder of her illness for both of you. Their removal, and Kathy coming home to a CLEAN house, will be a positive step into the future. I'm sure some flowers, a new bedspread and pillows, and perhaps a new robe & slippers... might be quite a nice perk for her, too.
All the Best, Bill!
Cheers,
Kimbob

I will need to do some shopping.

That is a very smart move. It shows you are in control.
My older sister once kept her artificial tree up for months; the thing started to look sad, as did how we looked at her. She thought it was funny!
Best wishes.

Please be careful removing and replacing the decorations. I hope you didn't put up lights with all that's going on. Some cherry spring decor may give everyone something to look forward to.

The outside lights are in abeyance until the new crew is assigned.

Now Bill, I know that you know better than to tempt the fates. To make a statement like what could go wrong, is like waving a flag before an enraged bull. Please believe me, you do not really want to experience the thigs that could and very well may go wrong. May God have mercy on the foolish.

I'm guessing something does go wrong. Maybe we'll learn of it in the next post. The hardest part about decorating, I think, is taking everything down and packing it away again.

Especially here, Yvonne. Everything hanging on the wall requires a bag and tag.

I am glad you were honest with yourself, Bill, and saw that grasping reality is surely the answer to this dilemma. I know your wife will appreciate a clean and tidy house when she returns... I know I would. Great write.
