I enjoyed your poem. Everything come to an end. Since the beginning of time people have lived out their life spans and seemingly been lost in time. This seems to be they way it is meant to be, and the same will happened to us in time if time continues. I don't believe it is all in vain. God knows all that have ever lived an no matter how evil or good the society was in which they lived, I'm sure there were individuals who did the best they knew how with the knowledge available. In time we may learn their final story.

It's amazing how many, what were great civilisations that we can only guess what as to what transpired to make them almost seemingly to vanish into thin air, so, people guess, but God knows, well done, blessings Roy

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your comments supporting the poem. I wanted to get people thinking about our society here, and to be conscious of the fact that it is ephemeral as well. estory

Yep ours could vanish too

There are pockets of society, communities that are sometimes broken into fragments, tribes that died out as their families dissolved and we look back with grief, a poignant write here, love Dolly x x x

I find the ruins of Machu Pichu as well as other Ancient Cultures mesmerizing and fascinating. I've been researching my Pre Aztec heritage to find out where my heritage came from. Thank you for Sharing your very interesting Poe try topic.

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the piece. I worked with a guy who has a restaurant in Agua Caliente, near Machu Pichu. I thought it might make the perfect metaphor for our own society and culture. estory

Indeed, what is going to happen to us? It's a very good question, estory. At the moment it seems we're hellbent on our own destruction. I'm not afraid of me, but I worry about my next generations.
Was is the same for those who lived so long before us?
I really liked your well written poem Ulla:)))

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your comments supporting my theme here. People really haven't changed in five thousand years. We're actually lucky, I think, to have avoided world war this long. But our luck might be running out this time. Hope for the best, expect the worst. I was surprised by all the positive reviews on this one, it is not one of my favorites from this collection. I still think it needs work. estory

You did a good job crafting this philosophical and introspective verse. By using Machu Pichu and their abandoned culture, it symbolizes the transient nature of cultures... you did a good job relating that point. The imagery is great and especially the use of the setting sun. Well done.

It just reminds me of how people go picking through other people's graveyards and tombs looking for jewels and other things instead of respecting their privacy. You write good poetry, It certainly got me fired up! Karen

Thanks for the excellent review and your interesting perspective on the theme here. I hadn't thought of Machu Pichu in those terms, but it certainly is an experience to keep in mind. We have a fascination with death it seems to me. estory

This sounds like a fascinating collection of poetry. Most people are intrigued by these abandoned civilizations. You ask good questions here. We can only speculate about the fate of Machu Picchu and marvel at the masonry we cannot duplicate in this modern era. Great topic, great haunting poem to bring attention to it.
Thanks for sharing! Julie

I'm glad you write about the famous Machu Picchu. You spelt it wrong. I'm going to do a hiking tour of Peru including Machu Picchu. I don't think the US will become the next Machu Picchu. The AI will take over and this world will be more technology oriented.
It turns out that the Spanish conquers started the decline of the Inca civilization.
Well done.

Thanks for your excellent review and your perspective on the poem. I worked with a guy who has a restaurant in Agua Caliente near Machu Picchu. There's a harrowing train ride to the top. I was always intrigued by the site and its stunning location close to the sun. estory

We will be hiking every day from 3 miles to 8 miles for about 6 days.

Get ready for the altitude. Lots of people get altitude sickness up there. estory

Yes. They gradually easy us to it with lighter activities in the beginning.
Thanks.
