I want to know more about the man; he is going to be some kind of pivot for Heddy. It is, however, strange that Nonni does not talk about Artie. Or, give news about Willie. Karen

Nonni is there for Heddy but not to give answers. She is more an advisor. Thank you for this awesome review. Gretchen

Did Willis die? So he was at the hospital but Heddy says he is across the ocean.
I love the words imagery....
"I follow her to the beach, my feet sink into the warm sand with each step. I wade out a ways until the soft "rhythmic waves kiss the bottom of my shorts."
Well done, I love the story and characters development.

Willis has been injured but Heddy and her parents don't know how bad. This is the frustration she feels and doesn't understand the whole grown up world. Thank you so much for this awesome review and the extra star.

Hello Gretchen,
another outstanding post gal. Do all little girls see the world as Heddy does? Knowing that our loved ones are in constant danger is a terrible way to live, and yet every generation has had to deal with war I suppose. I wonder if politicians understand that it's not just the soldiers who go to war, but their families and friends who are left behind do to. Well done gal.
Have a blessed evening.

Politicians see $$ not people. Doubt that will ever change. I really appreciate this nice review. And thank you for the awesome extra star. I'm so glad you are enjoying this story. Gretchen

Sometimes all one can do for soldiers gone to war is pray they will be okay and come back. Truth remains, not all do.
"Heddy's" viewpoint in this chapter crystal clear as she thinks about her brother and his welfare.

This is a beautiful part of Heddy's story. She talks to the little snake and lets him go. She worries about her brother and Nonni tells her to pray for him and all the soldiers, even the Krauts.

Nonni is more like a conscience I think. She doesn't tell Eddy what to do, just do what Heddy knows in her heart is the right thing to do. Thank you for this nice review. Gretchen

A beautifully sentimental chapter, Gretchen.
I'm waiting for Nonni to do something magical or miraculous, but I'm not sure if that's how you want this to go, as she'd end up having inside information of all the happenings.
I like that she's there just when Heddy needs her. Great chapter! Best, JohnC

I don't think Nonni is there for any other reason than for support of Heddy. Maybe I'll try a supernatural one at some point. Thank you for this great review. Gretchen

I like how this is told through a young person's perspective. It is more apt to draw us in that way because we revisit the young person we were. You have developed your characters very well. What a great ending. A+

What a great chapter title. Looking out across the ocean. My happy place. We know that somewhere, someway, there is everything that we ever dreamed about out there. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much. I'm lucky enough to live one mile from the Atlantic. It's my happy place too. Gretchen

I like it when Nonni comes, probably because I like ghosts. You hit on something I've thought for many years. When it comes to wars, and each side asks God for His help, it must be so hard, because He doesn't take sides in wars. All the soldiers, etc are his children, regardless of where they are from. Nonni's reply tells Heddy to pray for peace, that was the best way to answer her.
I like Heddy's dad too. He sorted out a compromise which bucked Heddy up, he'd help her if she did a good job weeding for her mommy. (he was a bit like my grandpa)
It's a sad time for the family at the moment. I do hope Willis will be okay. Another lovely chapter in you new book, Grechen. Well done!! Love and hugs Sandra xx

Thank you, Sandra. Your words made my day. I've modeled Heddys father after my own. He was always happy and teasing. Thank you for the kind words and the extra star. Gretchen
