Hi Verna,
This is a well done free verse biography. It shows that a life is full of ups and downs. You show a full life and how faith and grace is a big part of it.
Congrats on the second place finish in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a great weekend.

Verna, this verse is certainly deserving of its recognition. What a beautiful way to celebrate blessings received and a life well lived. That is a cup to keep!

A cup full of nectar, remembrances and inspirations - evidence of a life well-lived. A lovely poem that reflects a heart filled with gratitude. Such a refreshing read, considering there are some who do nothing but complain.

Free verse is my favorite type of poem and you have done a lovely job here. Very inspiring and the imagery invokes a simpler time. God Bless you and all the best in the contest. Laura

A beautiful and moving poetic rendering, Verna.
I so love the analogy of a cup - filled to the brim - to represent your life... and a blessed life it has been; that is for certain.
I so enjoyed the emotive images your verse created for me.
I'll let you in on a not so little secret: I wouldn't trade my cup, either.
Much enjoyed!
Best wishes!

Thank you so much, diane, for a great review. There may have been times I've thought that "maybe" I'd trade, ; ) but thankfully, God has always been with me.

This poem with a metaphorical cup at its heart soothes the soul and raises the spirits reminding the reader that we all carry our own particular cup and being at ease with its contents good and bad is key to a happy life on earth - so well told. Wish I had 6!

I really liked the extended metaphor of the cup and the way you explored the various elements of your life through this image. It's a lovely opportunity to reflect on your achievements and your blessings. Thanks for the share and good luck for the contest.

I like how you use the metaphor of a cup to hold what's in your heart and mind - those beautiful memories of childhood and motherhood and it also provides comfort when dealing with earthly trials. I also like how you started and ended with the same two lines. Hope this does well in the contest!
