You know, Bill, we had one of those cell phones given to us a few years back. The kids didn't want us stuck up at the cottage with no communication to the outside world, meaning them! I never took to it. We sold the cottage back in 2019 (I think), and I still have never used the device. My wife has, but just a few times. Our 10 year old granddaughter understands it, and all its extras. But not me. I don't even want to look at it!
This past Christmas, my daughter gave me a watch that somehow counts the number of steps I take each day. It does so many other things that I don't understand. It even can tell her where I am... she thinks I'm getting Alzheimer's, and she wants an idea where to look. It's like a GPS. Crazy stuff they are coming up with. (I think a lot of it comes from crashed UAPs. They are so far more advanced than we earthlings!)
Anyway, my good friend, I'm so glad to hear that Kathy called you from the hospital. Every improvement is marvelous. And all you need to do is be patient. (Oh, also, get that house vacuumed! Put those empty chip bags and candy bar wrappers in the garbage! Do the dishes! Go out and buy your wife a new bedspread, flannel sheets and pillow slips. A new pillow wouldn't hurt either. And fresh flowers! God Bless her! Okay... and you, too, Bill!
Cheers,
Kimbob

LOL It sounds like you are implying that at one point, she did understand it. I understand computers to some extent. I do pretty well learning something new when I really want to but this doesn't include smart phones. I refuse to believe that make me stupid.

This poem was an interesting short poem because it reveals much of what might be going on behind the scenes, without coming out and saying so. Having a lucid day, or having a normal day, or having a day where at least one part of the brain is functioning is starting to sound like a blessing to those of us getting older. The magic inside new phones is still beyond most of us, but we love using it. Hope all is going well for your family.

My wife had a stroke and now the phone is an intersting box that needs explaining.

Best wishes on her progression. My dad was in a nursing home for five years after a stroke.

Oh this is great news, Bill! Don't worry at all. I don't understand my phone either or, come to that, much about technology! The thing is, I don't think the so-called experts do either! A fun and upbeat post and pleasure to receive. Debbie

May God be praised. If a woman is capable of making a phone call while a patient in a hospital, she is well on her way to healing. As her husband, she had better find things up to par when she gets home. My advice to you is better consider this as a spruce up inspection from your top sergeant when he is in a bad mood.

I had actually hoped to win an argument on who could run a house better -- me, with hills of laundry rising above the unvacuumed floor, or ...

Hooray! She made that call. That's a very good sign! It must feel like that phone is "magic" reaching into another realm. Of course, just 30 years ago, we'd thought all our smartphones as "magic."
Hope Kathy can get home this weekend!

Thank you, Helen, for the points and the nice sentiment. Kathy will be in hospital for three weeks getting PT and dialysis.

    Three weeks! Sigh.
I guess the dialysis is important.
    Continued prayers for her! 💖🙏🙏
