I hope you are mostly overreacting, Sal. If not, I am truly sorry.

It takes an older person to appreciate the value of this procedure and to have lost the humiliation younger people would feel from being in such a vulnerable position. I say go ahead, Bill. If you aren't a medical professional then I would say nothing says love like the willingness to go there.

I recall cleaning out my dad when he was blocked. My brother stood by astounded.

I had to do it for my dad too. I also had to clean him up when he had a bowel movement. My husband no one would ever do that for him. He was wrong. I would as well as his nurses. Never say never.

I am so glad to read this is fiction, but it sounded true. You told the story well, and it definitely gave me a chuckle. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Ha ha ha, you made me smile Bill as the rawness of bodily functions are revealed in hospitals where we are healing. I sincerely hope your wife is improving and with your sense of humour I expect she is in stitches laughing, love Dolly x x x

I am tolerated.

Sometimes, we have to pull up our sleeve and get to work. I was trying to walk gently with this one, feeling so bad for your wife in her embarrassment and having empathy for you, that is until I saw it was fiction.
Well I can say you put your reader in the room too.
Best wishes,
Mary

This is fiction because the lady next door had nothing to say.
Comment from Katherine M. (k-11)
This is hilarious. It is exactly how people behave in hospital. There is no dignity left nor privacy, and you managed to convey that very concisely - well done. kay

I love the daughter's answer with its play on words: the DEPTH of the procedure. The elderly lady got her jollies with this. Glad to see this is fiction! A six for the laughs.

Bill, you are a brave man as you describe the reality of how things are. Your acts show your deep love and respect for your wife. I wish everyone would have that when in dire need. Ulla xcx

Oh, the things a man must do to assist his wife, only to be vilified if he forgets to let the seat down in the toilet once in a while. We suffer in silence because that is the kind of guy she married. Bravo Bill.
