What a wonderful senryu, Gypsy. The lyrebird sounds like a baby crying -sounds so real. She is missing her mother. The pictures were great. Very well done and greatly enjoyed. Blessed Be n Hugs!!!

I've never heard of the lyrabird. But I know sometimes cats can cry and sound like children. This was a sad poem that pulls at the heartstrings. Great job. Gretchen

I wanted a bird and it took a while to find one. I never heard of it either. It mimics sounds.

This is such beautiful imagery. I've been blessed to see the lyrebird - they are stunning birds. Did you know they are amazing mimics and can imitate many other sounds as well as a baby's cry? Lovely writing. :)

Yes, I knew they mimic sounds but I never have seen one. Do you live in Australia? I read they are Australian birds.

I love the lyrebird and would love to see one in real life. I wonder if any Stateside zoo has a lyrebird. I only know they are in Australia. The lyrebird mimics every sound so perhaps he can also bring up the sounds of missing and sadness, too.

I searched bird sounds for a while and lyrebird can mimic crying. I would like to see it and hear his song. Too bad they live in Australia. I'll have to ask James, he probably has seen them.
