Hi Kace, I hate when fires are so bad they
burn 1000's of acers...taking away everything
a person has...killing innocent wildlife...

when it gets bad here I'm always looking for
the skies to open up...and sooner or later
they do...we just have to have faith in God
my sweet friend...

I love your poem...and your picture says it all...
very well written you...Love you...Linda xxoo

I was horrified by the footage I saw of the Australian wildfires. They truly broke my heart. It will take many years to recover from such ecological devastation, but in the end nature finds a way. . .if only we could get out of the way of nature!

Hello Ben, Many thanks for reading and understanding. The whites told our people to stop backburning, guess what happened? Yes, we are backburning now, like we have done for thousands of years. We know how to work with Mother Nature, the white man wouldn't have a clue! Thanks for reading. K xx

I very much enjoyed reading your poem K, and in the face of fire and drought your repeating line is most effective to drive home the message of faith.

Solid imagery using strong verbs to emphasize the gravity and tragedy when the land and homes are consumed with fire.

A unique and powerful message and I wish you great luck with the Contest Committee.

Hello Possum, Many thanks for reading. Glad you enjoyed it. Who is the lady in your picture? "I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains. Of rugged mountain ranges of drought and flooding rains. I love her far horizon, I love her jewel sea. Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."Written by Dorothea McKellar. Bless you, K xx

A beautiful poem describing nature's power. I've always said Nature will control the World, we don't need wars. How clever you are a writer and a artist. I write Children's picture books and am always looking for someone to do the artwork, you may be interested in assisting a neighbour across the ditch.

What a powerful poem, Aussie. Your faith in nature is just another example of your faith in life. Despite your hardships, you are probably one of the most optimistic people that I know. You are inspiring.
As to your poem, I particularly like your last line and your use of the phrase open skies. You want nature to open skies and let it rain. What a nice way to put it.
Hope you have a wonderful new year, Aussie. I look forward to many more posts. You keep me updated at to what is going on in Australia and New Zealand.

Hello Debbie, Many thanks for reading, the skies have opened and now, we have floods! We are used to this type of weather, it is summer and to be expected. One area had 560 mm of rain overnight! More news, our own Mary is going to be queen of Denmark (Queen Margrethe has abdicated) it's a first, there has never been an Australian on a Danish throne. Love, Kay.

That?s interesting. Wonder why the present queen abdicated

Well, she has been on the throne for 53 years and she is 83 and just had back surgery. She is a hoot! Hiding behind the royal curtains with a cigarette in hand, she is a chain-smoker and her people love her dearly. K xx

I like your theme of faith in nature. Mother nature does come through and restore balance after she wreaks havoc. I also like your repeating line "faith in nature to open skies", we know the skies will be open again. Prayers for all who are affected by the fires.

I enjoyed reading this. The Fires are terrible. There is such an increase in hurricanes, earthquakes and htornadoes. Climate change is so evident. God gave us this planet, we should take care of it. A powerful poem. Great job depicting what is happening.

I am with you. Victoria hasn't been too badly affected as yet but I'm watching the news and praying for the people of Queensland who are doing it very tough at the moment.
