Men still seem to be, as a group, not very good at expressing themselves verbally. I have never had one that could tell me or write to me of his true feelings. This was nicely done. Karen

Unrequited love may take a few different forms, it means loving someone who does not return those feelings; pining for someone who is not available; Mutual attraction between people who are both in other relationships; and the desire for an ex after a relationship has ended.

Does your poem relate to this kind of love?

This poem reminds me of a Country song, 'Don't Close Your Eyes' by Keith Whitley. I may have to pull it up on YouTube and listen to it, now. Once again, you did a wonderful job writing the emotion. It's perfect.

Is this based on a book you were reading? I think you expressed the man's feelings well. But it's also awkward if the girl is his friend's girlfriend. It's hard to clearly set boundaries of friendship between men and women.

It's inspired a little by a song--the last worthless evening by Don Henley. It's an awesome song but the story in my poem
is different. You may google it... it's so romantic and not as sad as mine.

    Thank you very, big sister.

    Love,

Well, well, well this is a sad situation to find oneself in. Best just to never let your mind go there where friends mates are concerned.

This is another fine piece of work, my friend. Very enjoyable, indeed!

Hi MariVal,
I get it... there are not many males on site composing this kind of passion through their love of words and it must get so lonely exposing yourself as a lone Wolf calling to the air with not a hint of a howling call coming back, only the echoes of siren... so yes, I get that you have now raised the bar at a height most males would be scared of. And if I be truthful in my earlier years, I could so relate to this story on a personal level, as I'm sure a lot of males have gone through such a scenario have experienced. But the girl always desires the bad boy, and not the loyal, loving-caring one who stands on the sideline of a true love. I guess this story is as timeless as the big bang that created the Earth, all the planets and stars. And then we think of who created the big bang... well, no mystery there... the Source to our Source.

I will not tell you when, only know there will be a male on here ready to thrown down the gauntlet in composing something as beautiful as this... I promise you that! Lol.

Beautiful!

With our thoughts we create...
the void of unrequited love.

Warmest regards,
James.

Thank you very much, James. It's so good to hear from you and receive one of your 'straight from the heart ' exceptional review, they always feel like a seven stars review. You are so good at it... just amazing.

I didn't think about the men on the site. I don't even know why I wrote it, my muse is the boss, I just follow her.

I put down my emotions on paper as I always do but was curious to change the point of view. I liked it. I know men like that, I wish I had married one of them but when I was younger I always liked the bad boys...it was so unwise. I think the best couple relationships should start as friends.

    Anyway...

May you have a fabulous weekend, my friend.

    Con cariņo

That's the worse possible kind to be love with one's best friend, I mean really, it's an inescapable maze of compromise that could well leave one destitute, and barren, beautifully written Gypsy, happy new year, blessings Roy

This was a very fantasy inducing poem. The unannounced love. Burning for someone who belongs to another. There is no outlet for him. Sad yet beautiful. Gretchen

It's not a good idea for somebody to be in love with his best friends girl. That could become a very sticky situation. I wish you the very best for the new year and I pray that God will bless you.
