This poem is really an interesting combination of positivity and sadness, with the varying images of light and love in each stanza contrasting with the repeated refrain "and you will not be here/to see them shine". It's both beautiful and poignant. Thanks for sharing this.

This reminds me of the moon, sun and the stars at night shining in the sky; if we look, can we see perhaps one of them? I like your elegant poem; very well-written, too.

Hi MariVal,
I really like this free verse poem the is a strong personification/metaphor for the relationship between the sun and the moon. The artwork seems to show it as a dance of love.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Joan

This was a wonderful free verse, Gypsy. The pictures were magical in that they showed the magic held between the words. I liked the fact that moonflowers bloom at night. Very well done and greatly enjoyed. Blessed Be n Hugs!!!

I like your analogy of the moonflower as a trumpet. And in Psalm 19:5, the sun is also compared to a bridegroom ("The sun comes out like a bridegroom from his bedroom") so you have come up with the same metaphor as the ancient poet.
Enjoyed all the celestial personifications but sorry for the one who will miss out.

I didn't know about Psalm 19:5, I love that idea. Should I use bridegroom instead?

Thank you very much, big sister. I always appreciate your insightful reviews. Good night.

    Love,

I think the way you had it is fine because it is the same idea. 💖

Beautiful imagery in this poem. Anthropomorphizing nature makes it feel like a whole world is going on without our notice. A lovely progression and aching yearning at the end of each stanza. I really enjoyed it.
