As far as I know, he genuinely dropped it. But do we ever know the whole picture? Thank you for engaging with the story.

You have spelled Elizabeth 2 different ways, I would recommend changing one of them so they match.

Good observation. You are right, Thank you. I did spell Elizabeth in two different ways.
We do not get to know the whole story. We cannot know the future until it comes. We can still be present as matters evolve.
