Yep, yet I wonder how I felt when I was ten or twelve surrounded by prettily wrapped presents. Now with life's end ever nearing my focus is more clear. Merry Christmas

You are right in saying that some do get annoyed with Christmas. Sometimes we forget the true meaning of this holiday. God's son was born and that is a miracle in itself.

I really enjoyed your observation, and it's so true. My own granddaughter has been doing this Elf thing for 3 years now. Thankfully, there's just one night left, and he's back to the North Pole for another year.
Your poem is worth voting for, but so very hard on the eyes... that shade of green on a red background doesn't work very well. But you make a great point.

It is a shame that we do not remember the reason for the season in so much of the world today. Everything has become so secular in fear of offending somebody. Annette seems there are a lot of people out there, who want to take offense when somebody says merry Christmas to them, or mentions the reason for the season. Patricia

More often turtles frequent logs but that would not have rhymed and without that line I would not have 34 syllables.
