This is a sweet natured story with a happy ending, and I enjoyed the sentiment in your story. Although nature can heal us, we can easily succumb to death when things like cancer take over. A fine uplifting story, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

I liked reading this story about how the existence of a female platypus helped the speaker get through a long chemotherapy ordeal. It helped underscore how humans and nature depend on each other.
Little suggestions:
Once the babies were no longer reliant on their mother's milk they made their way to the stream to search for insect larvae, freshwater shrimps, worms, and yabbies.
I would add a comma after milk.

Three months had passed and Dr Trace wanted to see how I was going.
I suggest putting a comma after passed and a period after Dr.

"Tell me what you have in the results please."
I would put a comma after results.

"Charlie, the tests show the second tumor gone and the other one has shrunk! What health plan did you use?"
I suggest putting a comma after gone to avoid a run-on sentence.

"I told you I had my plan and that was to bond with nature.
I suggest putting a comma after plan.

We have a clean-up squad monitoring the river for human rubbish and the stream is clean and healthy, just like me."
I suggest putting a comma after rubbish, to avoid a run-on sentence.

Kace,

I do like your story.

I am on my cell phone so it's hard to see or list minor ( very minor) errors.

Nature is inspiring and often it's alchemy is healing, and even successful if one hasn't entered the mortality protocol of man's concocted medicine.

Thank you for sharing. I loved the story.

There are many stories like this one that have been told for many years. I remember one puppy who cured Alzheimer's. What a wonderfully written story. Good luck in the contest!

Have a great day, and Merry Christmas!

Hi Kace, what a wonderful story told sweetie pie...
I think platypus are so cute...and so innocent looking...

I'm so glad people came to clean stream...it is a crime
some people don't care about the wildlife God created...
and it's like that all over the world...our waters have become
garbage dumps to so many stupid people...their mean and cruel...

I'm happy Annie had her babies to with her...smiling big...
and I love the ending of your story...

I love your story told...and your picture is precious...very well
written my sweet friend...love much...Linda xxoo

I finally got a moment to sit down and review a bit...and write
my Christmas card to my FanStory friends...sigh...xxoo

I watched a doco and I have a photographic mind. So I decided to write his story in my own way. Kace xx

Two key messages here. One for the environment and the importance of the preservation of our waterways and endangered species. The other is the power of the mind and positive thinking over this horrid disease. Excellent and thought-provoking writing. Well done and good luck in the contest.

Teri, thanks for reading possum-pie. I watched a doco on this and I just had to put it into words. We are losing our native animals too fast. Happy Christmas and may the Lord be with you every day in every way. Love, Kay xx

This is a delightful story. It is amazing what nature can do and you weave the tale well as the man cares for a creature in nature, he finds the healing he needs.
The author's notes are sad. Let's hope the platypus can be saved.

This is a beautiful, inspirational story of faith, planning, and recovery. Thank you for all your information on the platypus, both in your story andin your author's notes. This is an excellent entry for the Sentence Starts the Story contest, and I wish you the best in the contest.

This is such an uplifting, well written true story in which you have started the story with the line "There was a knock on the door" as per contest guidelines. I didn't know much about the platypus till I read your story. I am glad that nature has helped you healthwise.

Hello friend, The story was taken from a doco I saw. Charlie went on to set up a platypus refuge. I don't know if he passed away. Happy Christmas, Kay.
