I like this piece for its undercurrent of commentary about the lingering costs of war. The language is largely unadorned and that helps in this case because it has a dry detached tone that leaves the reader feeling empty and ruminating. Regards GK

Thank you Gk for your review. I appreciate your time and attention into my writing. I invite you to read my book Sandra's lover. Perhaps you could help me with reviewing that one as well?

The tone of this poem falls somewhere between John McCrae's "In Flanders Fields" and Wilfred Owen's "Dulce et Decorum est" (skewing towards the latter). I like the second stanza best for its snappy delivery; the first two lines of the final stanza, however, seem to stumble a bit--the construction of the first line, with "for" at the end in particular--and I think if in the future you chose to revise them the poem as a whole would be all the stronger. Thank you for sharing this poem; I very much enjoyed it.

Somber words regarding the tragedy of war. There is no victory is death. Your poem is touching and well written, painting a dark picture as it describes the grave sites of the casualties of war.

Wow. This is a moving and beautiful poem that evokes much emotion from the reader. The opening lines were epic and made me swallow a lump in my throat:

As I wander between the stones
Treading upon these broken bones

And then:

The people around are all asleep.

I keenly feel the sadness felt for the fallen... A powerful poem.

To be honest I was struggling to read this poem as the font is small and it was difficult to identify each letter! LOOSE should be LOSE. The contest guidelines states NO IMAGES FOR THIS CONTEST PLEASE--LET YOUR WORDS DO ALL THE WORK.
