This a well written piece of metaphorical poetry in haiku style. I like the idea of hostages being trapped in spiders' webs. If only that was true! How easy would it have been for them to escape? Good luck.

Hi John,
This is great mix of words and artwork. It uses strong metaphor of the web for a catcher of tears. Tears could be rain or our tears that are brought about by the bad things in life.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Happy Holidays

Sad, but true - that there are no winners in a war. Atrocities abound on both sides and humanity suffers. The imagery within your poem highlights the futility of it all. Suspension of tears in a man made web.

Thank you June, for your thoughtful review.
Yes the sheer futility of war just keeps on repeating. Will we ever be able to put a stop to it?

As I was going through the list of poems and saw the picture next to your title, I knew what it was going to be about and knew it would be good! You didn't disappoint. You make even spiderwebs sound beautiful and poetic. Great Haiku!

Yes, I have heard the hostages have had unspeakable things done to them. (Palestinians don't denounce that)
What about the suffering of the people in Israel? I know you mentioned them, but Palestinians aligned themselves with Hamas when they had the chance to build a normal society.
What is sickening to me are the American college students and Americans, period, cheering on Hamas after what they did to babies, old people and others. It is disgusting. And speaking of inexcusable behavior, hooray for the condemnation of college administrators and professors who allow and promote such behavior.
Yes, there is a lot of suffering going on, including the American people who love America and have to watch her being destroyed every single day. It breaks my heart.

Thank you Katharine, we do live in trying times. I am maybe more positive than you in my faith in the American people. Politicians are so divisive today but the American people are the glue that hold this country together. It will come good again.

Thank you for sharing this. It's tragic that our enjoyment of imagery in nature is tinged at this time with the ironic reflection of human behaviour in terrible conflicts. Unfortunately it's a really apt parallel.

Wow, that's an interesting way of looking at a spider's web. When the dew comes it looks like little tear drops for sure. I think it's a great submission. I see no issues with grammar I think.
It's a real good haiku, best of luck. To you hope you have a great day!

The world really is waiting in suspense concerning the outcome of the devastation caused by the unexpected attack upon Israel killing over a thousand innocents of all ages, and further torturing the hostages that were taken. It is a horrible scar on the face of humanity...a web of plotted mayhem.
This is listed on the front page announcement as a satire poem, but I think it is more metaphorical.

I like how you all your words into the spiderweb, and what it captures. I like the idea of the spiderweb capturing hostages. I wish you the very best with all of your writing, and I wish you the very best in the contest.
