I used to love the Banana Splits!!! How nostalgic! I guess we are showing our ages now lol. I remember the song so well!! Perhaps you could add a little youtube video (if there are any) for the younger readers? Thanks for reminding me about these. Good luck.

One of the Kroft (sp?) Bros. died recently. The Banana Splits were originally on Saturdays. If my feeble mind remembers correctly, I believe it was in the 10 a.m. spot once ruled by Howdy Doody. Thank you for a fine remembrance of a bygone show.

For me they were the go-to show every school holidays. It's funny what you remember nearly 50 years later.

I used to watch all the shows. One of my favorites was Chuck McCann. Later, I was fortunate to meet him in real life.

I'd never heard of The Banana Splits before, so thanks for the added context in the author's note. There was a bit of rhyme here, and a bit of humour in the pun at the end. This is a quirky, fun poem.

"Get the mail, Fleegle!" I remember the Banana Splits! I was a very little girl in the 70s when watching them but I do remember being amused by their antics. Thanks so much for the nostalgic share! :)
