Julee-ann shows that anything is possible if you do what you love. She is successful at conducting because she loves what she is doing. I love the description of how the T.V. contest show went. I would like to have seen the look on the judges' faces. Wow. She is amazing.

Thank you very much Debi. Lovely review.
She said later she was nervous as well because she wasn't sure if she was in the right position on the stage and facing the audience appropriately. So many extra things to consider for someone blind.

Church choirs are a place where a lot of singers got started. For example Susan Boyle. Fascinating story of how blind Julee anne directed the choir. I went on to find her on YouTube singing Climb Every Mountain. What a range! Thanks for writing about her.

Julee-anne is phenomenal. I never realized, or even thought about music being written in braille. During my lifetime I've been a member of several large choirs, and know how important it is to keep your eyes on the conductor, who might not do the exact same thing every time a piece is performed. I can't imagine following a conductor who follows the music with one hand and conducts with the other. Thank you for bringing us this amazing story.

You have the knack of selecting the most interesting characters and then writing about them in the most engaging way. This biographic piece was no exception to that rule.

I think I would have seen her on the cpvouce, but I can't remember her for the life of me. But that's a marvellously courageous thing to do. Out of our gospel group years ago, we were two families with mostly children as performers, but our from that group produced two choral directors, my elder child with school choirs, and Helen who is music director with a local suburban, we attended a marvellous concert last night. Well done, blessings Roy

y nephew and his wife have their sons part of the local Catholic Church choir. I am sure it builds their confidence in public presentations in a contrast with sport events. This is a strong point: "Being blind only means you can't SEE anything, not that you can't DO anything." This is a great tribute to a person whose courage will put any of us to shame.

Yes, I am sure it does build self-esteem and confidence. She has a wonderfully positive attitude and a lot of determination not to let blindness stand in her way. Many thanks for a lovely review.

Hello Wendy,
wow, that's quite the story. I will never understand how people who are considered handicapped by those who have all their faculties have developed such a wide range of talents. Thanks so much for sharing this incredible story.
Have a blessed day.
Tom

What a very moving and inspiring story! It's incredible what people can achieve when they're truly motivated, no matter what mountain they have to climb in the process. It's as if the challenge creates a bigger result in the end because of all the focus and work gone into it. Thank you for sharing such an example with us, Wendy. Take care Debbie

Thank you Debbie - you are absolutely right. She?s always had to do more than most because the playing field is not level. She later admitted to being nervous re whether she was in the right position on the stage and facing the audience correctly etc. - things sighted people never have to worry about. I am so pleased you enjoyed this story. A lovely review.

Wow. I was overcome by the story. Just the image of her reading the room was amazing. Then I had to shake my head at the thought of her standing alone in complete darkness, unable to see the judges who had all turned. She faces the day with guts and a little extra. Gretchen

She does indeed. She said later she was nervous even at not knowing if she was in the proper position on the stage and facing the audience properly. Quite extraordinary. Many thanks for your thoughtful and beautiful review.
