Ben, This is a very interesting last chapter. Is this still on fanstory where I can go back and read some more when I can? You always write such great stories and bring up God in them. I appreciate you Ben. I will try to read more of your work soon. Blessings, Teri

Thank you for a glimpse at the past. I imagine my parents were just a little younger than you. They too had older siblings, uncles, etc., to off to serve during the war and greatly admired them. I recently found out that my mother had a cousin on the Arizona. Mom was too young to remember anything about him so I am trying to find other family members who might. She does remember her brother served in the Pacific. Luckily, he returned safely.

The war was something I hope we never experience again/ The Arizona I think was hit pretty hard by the Japanese. Thank you for a nice review.

This is a great story. You had two awesome older brothers!
My younger brother was in Big Red One and was the first through the breech into Quwait and Iraq. We are all very proud of him, but he came back a different man.
Thank you for sharing this historical piece.

You have every right to be proud of him. Yes, I suppose we all change when experiencing things as we have. Thanks for reviewing.

This was a great write and a meaningful one. I love how you made reference to the important role mothers' prayers play in the safe return of their solder sons. I also loved the ending where you speak of true peace only being found in Christ. A wonderful way to end this story.

You did a good job with the last part of your story, Ben. I have enjoyed reading it, and learning about your experiences, and those of your brothers. It sounds like each of you ended up making a good life for yourselves, and were also proud to have served your country.
I like how you give a good overview of having been in Germany, the rebuilding process, and what it has achieved as a country. I also like the story your brother told about the prisoner asking him questions about his home country.
A very good closing section. Very well done. Thanks for sharing the experience.

I so appreciate your fine story and how it relates to today. The power of prayer never changes despite our times. I see the paralles to then and now, too, and how the peace of Christ is the only real peace. The world is simply incapable of conjuring up peace on its own.
Thank you for sharing, my friend.
Sending my best today as always, and blessings for your writing endeavors,
Sal xoxo

Sadly, the world parishes without knowing the real peace it can have. Thank you, Sal.

I think Winston Churchill recognised the Russian threat and wanted to keep going through to Russia, but the Germans and the French before that had come unglued because of it, it's one thing to conquer a country, but quite another to occupy it, but Russia host many Christians too, and persecuted Jews, we are no more special to God than anyone else, Christ died for all. Blessings Roy

I was born in 1955 so all I know of World War 2 is from movies really. My dad was 4F because he had that condition where he fainted at the sight of blood. He fainted when We girls got out tonsils out and I had a bit of blood on me. He worked in a machine plant making parts for war machines, so he didn't go to Korea. I married two men in service and my oldest son put in over 25 years. I sent books and stuff as my part. But up close I don't know a lot. Good writing. Karen

Nice way to button this up. True stories always have the best impact when well told. You didn't disappoint. I appreciate learning about history when reading. I'm always looking to learn new aspects like within here. Jesus, the same yesterday, today, and forever: a light to all nations.

This has been a great story. Sorry I can't give you a SIX as I had so much to correct. You need to take more care, mate. Getting around repetition in following. Those who still [needed] (had) physical needs
Hans, a young German[y] prisoner
Repetition again ...nation [become](achieve) what it was becoming.
the danger that [alert] (became obvious) from Russia,
w(he)[i]ther some wish[es] to acknowledge it
