Thank you for sharing! This is interesting. I would have expected that two or three o'clock in the morning would be the time when the lowest temperature is reached. Good luck for the contest.

If one is up and out early in the day regularly, he or she will notice how cold the early morning is. This brief article describes why that is the case; it's all about the sun's heating schedules and upper-layer geothermal heat release rates. People might be inclined to think that 2a.m. would be colder than 6a.m., but they'd be wrong, unless a colder block of air moved into the area - in which case, all bets are off.
