Your poem reminds me of the Cat Steven's song, "Moonshadow" because of he lack of senses. But in your poem, you show that the senses are so tied to being used for the beloved that the narrator doesn't even want his senses if he/she can't have the beloved.

I love Cat Steven's songs. I remember 'Moonshadow' and I agree it's similar to my poem. I was 15 years old when his album came out. He is still writing songs and performing in concert, although is not as popular as he was when he was young.

He lost a lot of fans when he became Muslim. Also, he supported the fatwa against Salmon Rushdie for his book, Satanic Verses. But those who like him have started listening to him again.

I really like the duality you've explored here where the desire for connection lingers but there is some kind of barrier or obstacle preventing it from reaching fruition. It reminds me of that heartbreaking feeling when a lover moves on and you are left with your feelings for them, struggling to master and redirect them. Lovely writing.

So much passion went into this poem. I could feel the emotion as I read this poem. It caused me to pause and think. I know how strong love it, but at what point does one lose themselves. I'm not positive that's a good thing.
