Your characters and their personalities are quite believable even giving a memory back in high school that affects Hayley's behavior at the present time. Seems like Hayley knows more about Michelle than Angela.

You are very observant when it comes to women Jacob, noticing them and how vain they are! Ha ha ha, you are, of course, spot on with your descriptions.
Michelle sounds like a misery guts who likes to be in control of others, you always get one person in a group of women like this. I meet with my neighbours on occasions for drinks and a chat and there is one women in our group who is opinionated and tries to manipulate the others into what they should be thinking. Being older, I have heard it all before and take no notice.

Ah, psychodrama and mystery are playing out here in the most seemingly casual way! I know I'm getting into a plot when I begin to "diagnose" the character traits as Borderline, Narcissistic, Paranoid, etc.
(Spoiler alert-- I'm an RN who did a stint in Psych but have NO business doing this!)
I enjoyed this chapter. It seems Michelle's had a "creep factor" to more than one person!

I'm starting to see Michelle as someone who only wants one friend in her life and resents anyone else. Angela likes a lot of people. She seem to have and emotional reaction to those who don't agree with her way of thinking about her friends. You writing keeps me wanting more.
